The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

When have I ever whined or complained about the travel? The answer is never, pointing out facts about a given situation isn't whining, suggesting that certain people have asked for idle weekends after travelling to alaska, isn't me saying it should happen, its me pointing out that certain people have commented on the travel and suggested non-alaska schools returning from Alaska should get the weekend off.

Most of the kids playing have rode busses when playing juniors for hours, if not day’s. Alaska is a flying state, most fly when traveling to the states or on vacation. Some School Districts in Alasaka charter planes and boats just to get kids to school.

I think it has some merit but at the same time, the entire league has to make at least 1 trip to Alaska so whats the point? Talking about facts isn't even close to the same thing as whining and complaining. Stating the fact that the Alaska schools need the WCHA more than the WCHA needs the Alaska schools is fact...for that matter, you could say the same thing about UAH, BGSU, or the Minnesota schools. We are all in this together, and I accept the fact that we have the configuration that we do. I accept the travel and think anyone who really complains about sitting on a plane to Anchorage just doesn't get it.
They should make the trip up north. I make a road trip a year have been “weathered in” 3 times. You just deal with it. It’s part of the adventure

I don't really care for start times for games at alaska to start around the time I normally go to bed or for that weekend to fall on deer hunting opener when I have to get up at 5am, but I'm not complaining.
I don’t like the away afternoon games either. As far deer season can't help you with that

I'm happy to still have my program in the WCHA. Every post I've seen from Alaska fans today is complaining about someone else's perspective on things. Everything the rest of us has said for the most part has been honest, and decent and you get all bent out of shape.

Really……..some say leave the league if you don’t like it.

UAA and UA_ are happy to be in a league, but some posters can’t relate that Alaska is farther away that they ever want to be away from home.
I don't think anyone wants to get stuck travelling to Alaska for the WCHA playoffs, but if it happens, it happens. I doubt you'll hear as much complaining as Michigan State did when they traveled to Fairbanks a couple years ago...
What an incentive to play better and win some games.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

If BG and UAA tie, BG wins the tie breaker based on the head to head (2-1-1). Unless, another team happens to tie with them, then it's possible that UAA wins the tie-breaker. In no way shape or form am I complaining. Simply pointing out something interesting that other people may not have noticed.

Perhaps you think "irony" is the wrong word?
Yep!

I didn't think the Alaska fans were such whiny *****es. How wrong I was.
Go shoot your S&W at a tin can in your "God's Country".
Then come to Alaska and find out about the real world.
You obviously have never been to the "Great Land".
You have no clue.

I believe BB had been to Alaska 3 times, once with me, once with meaniegirl and once with his fiance, so you can get off your high horse and stop being a d!ck. I've been from McKinley to the Seward and seen quite a bit in between but how can you sit here and act like you're taking the high road with bs comments like that? Thanks JJ for telling seawolf fan to stop being a moron...

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I should have added, my comments weren't directed towards JJ. JJ is good people.

And yes, I've been there 3 times.

It's obvious you have not read any of the posts by Alaska folks today.
You're wrong on every single Alaska post today.
Haven't seen any complaining only asking people like you to face reality.
You refuse and that's your right.
Everyone has the right to be wrong but you seem to have used up your quota.
Or did you have your fingers crossed when you made application to join this league?
I just remembered....it is the people in charge (and that's not you) who made the rules and agreements on travel. But you're not whining when you don't like the rules?
You don't like the travel go watch some other team in some other league cause the teams in this league all (that's every single one of them) agreed to the travel.
Jeeeezh
And I'll still buy you guys a beer when you come visit.
It's a new day and a great day to be a Seawolf!
When they joined the league they were founding members with Michigan, Michigan State, CC, Denver, North Dakota & Minnesota. When they returned, Michigan and MSU were gone and Wisconsin, Duluth and NMU were in. Alaska was still around 7 years away.

We're in now and as a UAA fan that's all I care about.
And any other school that's in now helps to make up the league.
What's really important to me right now is the next two weekends of hockey.

And it's likely that a lot of plans won't be known until they're done in Fairbanks on the final night.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I'm reading this way late, but here's how I've looked at this.

Scanning the tie breaker rule that we will soon all be closely acquainted with: " If two or more teams are still tied (or all teams tied have not played four contests against one another) the highest seed will go to the team with the greater number of conference wins."

So a win and a loss is more valuable than two ties? That seems counterintuitive. By this logic an undefeated team could lose its tiebreaker to a .500 team.

The conference wins comparison only happens when two (or more) teams are locked up. I would argue that a win is more valuable than two ties if only because many of those losses could be by close margins (or by blowouts). We know that ties are close, but unless we start dealing in goal margin more than winning percentage, well ...

At least tiebreaker three is by winning percentage down the table. That makes sense to me.
