Equally ridiculous is the lower 48 bashing. The big difference between the non-Alaska schools and the alaska schools is the non-alaska schools would still have 6+ to make a conference with an AQ in the eyes of the NCAA. That's why he can say UAA and UA_ are the lucky ones. I'm really sick and tired for fans of the alaska schools being upset over others mentioning the travel, or wanting a bye after going to alaska, etc. No one is crying, lacking a pair or failing to man up. There is a reason that UAA and UA_ were in different conferences for so long. The fact that the teams left, mostly in the eastern time zone are a little frustrated about the travel necessary to make a trip to Alaska every year and likely a 2nd trip for most is a real frustration, no matter how "normal" that might be for alaska teams. Its no different than how frustrated eastern teams get with a regional more than 2 hours from home. Something out of the norm is still out of the norm, no matter how unrealistic that norm might be when shifting the group looking at things.
We should all be happy that there were enough teams leftout of the transition that no one as yet has folded shop from being left out. Nothing says that won't happen in the future but with the closeness of this league, its like to help with attendance and interest when truly on any given night any team can win. As soon as UAH finds its recruiting and gets its feet planted, this league will get really interesting, especially if the bottom 2 continue to not make the conference tournament.
