Point totals (with winning percentages factored in for tie breakers)...and then all of the various ways to break ties...thus, seeding for teams 3 through 9...this was Tweeted by BSU Sports Information earlier today.

Anchorage & Fairbanks folks: Please engage sarcasm detection device to avoid damage to your delicate sensitivities.

There's an easier way to avoid the travel-to-Alaska "problem". Just kick their frozen tundra out of the conference
Not to worry. We're used to the whining, complaining, wusses who don't seem capable of manning up to the facts.
The facts are both Alaska teams are in the league to stay.
Fact: Ferris has some ice they call a "rink". I don't recall hearing Alaskans crying and complaining about it. Have heard some others complain.
I'm not sure but perhaps we could go through the league and find something about each member to whine and complain about if we're not capable of manning up and facing reality.
And I do enjoy your sarcasm. The thing I take umbrage with is referring to our sensitivity as being "delicate".

I'll take the ice in Big Rapids over that fabulous surface at Sully any day. Worst ice in hockey. Not just college hockey. Junior hockey, high school hockey, even boot hockey. The sheet at Ferris is one of the best in the league. And I saw them both from the benches within two weeks of each other.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I got a kick out of a coach from another league saying how great the rink at lawson was. Really? Maybe he should travel around more.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I haven't seen anyone rave about the rink at Western...ever? Who is the coach raving about it? Lawson rarely has real good ice.

Andy Murray had a lot to say to Mlive about his league. With all due respect, There are two nice rinks there, some average ones, and then there's lawson, which he lumps in with the good ones..

Probably the best student section in the west...

Once again you have no clue.

Justin Bourne on his old blog

"Of course, my home rink, Sullivan Arena, is my overall favourite, based on the memories we had there, the fans, and the fact that to this day, its the best ice surface I’ve ever stepped foot on. It’s like playing in fast forward it’s so hard and fast."

You went there once and on Saturday they clearly had an issue with one of the pipes and a section of ice was soft for a good portion of the length of the ice sometime in the 3rd period. Stuff breaks ...

I've talked with dozens and dozens of players who all said the ice at the Sully was excellent. So what I'd like to ask you is to provide some basis to support your assertion.

Also ... educate yourself Science of Hockey: What makes good ice?

And ... this excellent article by some awesome dude

CC is the only one I haven't been to. Lawson ranks 9th in that league. And they only have 8 teams! And until Blashill got there it was a tomb.

Good ice meets the boards all the way around the rink. Good ice doesn't have a rink long ripple and is almost down to the concrete on Thursday night and is covered by a carpet up to WarmUps on Friday. I've been to every rink in this league. The weekend I was there, that ice was nothing short of brutal Donnie (if that's your real name). Would you like some pictures posted of it to illustrate the point? By the way, is that the same Justin Bourne who was a senior 7 years ago?

Nice article by the way. Now I've seen about 70 rinks from the college and pro levels. Rinks from Fairbanks to Jacksonville and Johnstown to Albuquerque. I've skated on at least 25 of them and observed them all from ice level. I even walked on the Sully ice and enjoyed the gap between the ice and boards. (That I blame on SMG. They never have been good for hockey.) Your town is terrific. Your fans are wonderful and welcoming. But if Sully is such a great place, why do you want it replaced? And how many of the rinks have you ever actually been to? Ever play or coach or work in the game?

You make the Pink Pony look like an intelligent post writer. Does your mommy not tell you a story when she tucks you in at your basement apartment?

The Alaskas have to realize they are lucky to be in the league. Yes they make 7 trips down below, but only because they have no choice. But I do find it funny when fans who never make the trip chirp about it!

Good ice is good ice. Bad boards and/or the interface between the boards and the edge of the ice has nothing to do with good or bad ice. You said ...

I acknowledged the maintenance issue. Doesn't do much for your assertion.

You know where you said ...
Not just college hockey. Junior hockey, high school hockey, even boot hockey.

All you had to do here was acknowledge your ridiculous hyperbole. Color me unsurprised.

I can only base it upon what I have seen. And I'm sorry for not delineating between "good ice" and "good rink." In a "good rink" the ice and boards meet. My fault for not being more specific. But if it is such a great place, why do you want it replaced so badly?

I'm sorry, I forget some people never leave the county they were born in.
