I still think the biggest issue for this league is the time and expense of travel. Something has to be done as a long term solution, to cut the time down that it is taking teams to get to each other. If it was done on a league wide basis, rather than by team as is the case now, it might be affordable and would make a huge difference on who we play non conference.

Maybe pooling each schools travel budget, or a large percentage, for the league to manage flights/bussing?
?
Can they do this.
If the league adds partners to help aleviate travel costs or to create a bigger check for teams, I'm all for it. Would it kill schools to have the 3M or Wells Fargo logo in ice next to the WCHA logo?
3M and Wells Fargo are businesses, not charities. How much do you think they'd pay to get the attention of the 35 people that show up at the conference tournament?

Speaking of the tourney, is the WCHA working with the Griffins in marketing the tourney? I don't recall seeing anything from the Griffs in email or Twitter regarding the Tourney. At least the CCHA was getting half-assed College Hockey at the Joe e-mails on behalf of the Red Wings/Olympia Entertainment.
In the Pasty Cup I would get these teams to play in these rinks.
OSU play in Marquette for the tourney.
MSU/UM play in Soo for the tourney.
Minnesota and Wisconsin play in Houghton.
So with rumors of NCHC travel woes mounting, I've heard an interesting idea: Bemidji and Mankato swapped for Western and Miami. That would be ... interesting. Thoughts?

Not to mention would WMU and Miami really want 2 trips to alaska?Would be interesting to see from a travel perspective. But two D1 schools swapped for two D2 schools? Not going to happen.

The only advantage is it would remove the fluctuations in travel costs from year to year. In theory, each school should have the same amount of in-conference travel over so many years (three?). If it was a perfectly balanced conference schedule, the costs would be the same each year.
