That would be a tough pill for whomever ends in 9th place to swallow :eek:

You finish 1 point behind the last home ice spot, yet you have to take a seat for the post season...

That what if is cool. I assume it is taking into account the tie breakers already?

I don't see Ferris splitting all their series. I think they sweep someone and most likely two someones.

Someone has to either go to Fairbanks and/or Anchorage or they come down here. Those schools will continue with their regular season travel subsidies for the playoffs. I'm sure there are plenty looking at the standings hoping for Fairbanks and Anchorage to finish 4 & 5! Especially the teams have already played two series up there already. Mankato has home ice clinched (as does Ferris) and Huntsville is eliminated. That leaves NMU and Tech as potential candidates for a third Alaskan appearance, though Tech went up and did the double in November.

It would be interesting to see that happen considering the league had considered and all Alaska playoff format.

First off we don't plan on finishing so low we have to school those pretenders.
But if they did pick up the pace to where they thought they were worthy of facing us a UAA/UA_ playoff would sell out the Sully but besides sending them back to the village on the edge of nowhere to lick their wounds that would be the only plus to an all Alaskan playoff.
Meeting at the Final Five and kicking those teddy bear butts would be much sweeter, even if it only drew a couple hundred "fans".

I'm not sure we can sell out a home playoff game. It sure would be nice though. I feel like most of Anchorage is so interested in the drama that goes on at Aces games, that they will find something better to do that weekend. UAA is/was11-3-2 at home this season, and we were leading 4-3 in the 3rd period in the loss to UA_ at home. I've been to every home game this year, and I haven't left the arena unsatisfied more than a couple times. But nobody else, except for the usual 2k fans, seems to give a crap. UAA invites 200+ (I have no idea how many there were, A Lot) military youth academy cadets to the game, and we can't even fill the lower bowl?

Mind blowing.

Who are those "pretenders?" Which of those teams did you sweep this year? Which of those teams is too far behind to catch you? Tech or Fairbanks just 2 pts behind you or NMU who got a split in your facility and sits three points back with two games in hand? Sell out the Sully? Is that with or without half the rink tarped off? You've got a good team that is on the rise. But at this point and with the remaining schedule, you've hardly head and shoulders above anyone but Huntsville.

You goofballs didn't come close to a sellout the first time your arch rival was in town this season. Have fun playing Ferris this weekend after they are coming off a loss.

I feel a little dirty watching Anchorage and Fairbanks folks fight among themselves. As if I'm window-peeping on some sort of bizarre family feud or reality television show. I need to take a shower.

UAA is like having a dimwitted younger brother. You like teasing him, but he's also family so you can't let the neighborhood bully pick on him.

Your post validates that you really don't have a clue what the UAA/UA_ thing is all about.
And please reread my post.
Nowhere does it say anything about any teams other than UAA/UA_.
Please point out where it says or infers that we're head and shoulders above anyone but UA_.
And by the way that includes Alabama who tied us once down there.
It appears to me you imagined a bunch of things into my post that were neither stated nor implied.
I'm not sure where you were coming from but you were way off base on this one.
