Hopefully I don’t jinx things but, has the refereeing in the WCHA gotten that much better this year? I haven’t seen any of the games on the tube yet, but in person they seem to be doing the fairest job I have ever seen.

edit - and just to point out, BSU is 22nd in the nation in attendance, and every school above them is either in a bigger town or has a larger enrollment.

Watching the BSU game on tv last night the arena looked really empty. Squirrel season opener? Ice fishing opener? :) ;) :p :D ( I realize the students are on break)

Saturday's game looked to be decently attended; at least there were some butts in the seats that you could see on TV. Too bad they picked the wrong night to show up as Friday's game was a lot more exciting!

WCHA Final Five Ticket Packages Announced

First thing to strike me was that the Semi Finals will be on separate tickets :eek: :confused:

Ticket packages are $95 and $50 normally... Buy between Dec. 8th and 19th and the prices drop to $80 and 35... That's reasonable... I might just pick up a pack and go even if NMU doesn't make it at those prices... The regular price is somewhat high, but not unreasonable...

Single game prices are $35 and $18 for each semi... Championship tickets are $40 and $25... Then again, I pay a whole dollar more than the package for the cheaper seats... $15 savings for the better seats... Also like the whole "Single game tickets will go on sale March 10th if there are any left" angle they are trying to play :p


Also like the idea that they are working with area hotels to provide shuttles to the fan fest, tailgate, and games...

Seems like a good effort thus far... Let's see if they follow through now...

Hopefully they keep the ticket prices reasonable when they get to the X. I'll go to most of the games regardless if my team is there....I'm just not traveling all the way to lower Michigan to watch it, even if Tech is there.

I might make the trip to Grand Rapids once just to do it, especially if Michigan Tech is a favorite to win. Otherwise, I'll just go when it's in St. Paul.

Did they announce a "host" hotel? Like the Ren Cen was for the CCHA or the Radisson in St. Paul was for the WCHA back in the good old days?

Not too keen on the separate tickets for the semi-final games; maybe they're expecting the turnout to be better than in Detroit.

Thought about getting tickets for the weekend, even if NMU doesn't make it.

I don't see a problem with separate tickets, unless you're the kind of person who routinely loses stuff. Beats the hell out of having one ticket, and the Van Andel not letting anyone leave and return between games.

I wouldn't bet on a better turnout than Detroit unless perhaps Ferris is in the mix (though at this rate, they're a lock :p).
