Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Well, there is the pool of former CCHA refs to draw from, surely the WCHA can skim the "cream" from that dumpster fire of officiating. ;)

I'm not worried; every conference's refs are going to suck, as far as fans are concerned. :D

What, a board of directors and shareholders concerned about return on investment? Don't you know that a good Yooper sales person would be able to not only talk Howard into funding NMU Hockey, but into investing his company's money into the league as well? Hey, maybe Starbucks can underwrite the whole broadcast package to boost the 20 or so stores in WCHA markets! There are millions to be made! Haha! That Ferris-Bemidji matchup should be enough to boot
bouncy ball off ESPNU, after all there's got to be big profits there. And an NMU-Tech battle before a sellout crowd of 1256 at historic Dee Stadium is gonna a prime time Friday on the network that does no regular season college hockey! The WCHA is gonna revolutionize ESPN's college sports coverage, maybe they'll even move a few bowl games to ESPN3 to make room for it! And here's an even better idea, why not get Starbucks to buy
naming rights for the league? The Starbucks Collegiate Hockey Association!!! Only $5 million a year for those naming rights! Sign 'em up to a 20 year deal! The Big Ten and SEC have their own TV networks, here comes the SCHA Network!

I can't wait for the Dee Stadium game on ESPNU.

Howard will be riding his bike from Seattle to Marquette with a bag of money.

That's a pretty ridiculous statement, considering Starbucks dropped out of sports sponsorships around 2007. No TBirds, no Seahawks, no Mariners, nothing in their home market. Have you seen Starbucks on NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB broadcasts? I would imagine those teams and leagues and their broadcast, print and digital media partners have some pretty good salespeople.

I'm interested to see how this streaming thing goes, especially at UAH. If we're sharp, we'll do a two-man team and have multiple cameras. I hope that we're sharp.

GFM <— 800 miles from home and not much time to talk to the right people.

For those who want to try and piece together the information, Fox Sports Go is a mobile app that is rumored to be launching late this summer at the same time as Fox Sports 1 and 2.

The next frontier for sports is your smartphone and tablet. Fox announced its long awaited ESPN challenger on Monday, but from our viewpoint, the exciting part of the announcement is the new Sports app called Fox Sports GO that will be available for iOS and Android devices. The app and the service are absolutely free as long as you can be verified as a subscriber to certain cable, satellite or telco providers. It is the same process that the CNN app uses to let you watch live streaming video of the network. Right now, only subscribers to Mediacom and VerizonFiOS can view the service, but that list should grow.

The app will offer over 1,000 live games and events from FOX Sports, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports' 22 regional sports networks, as well as scores, highlights, news, stats, and analysis. There was no word on whether or not we will see this offered eventually on Windows Phone or BlackBerry 10. Fox Sports GO will launch on August 17th, so circle your calendar and be ready then to download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Would be nice if AppleTV would get the ability to install apps. WCHA Hockey on Apple TV...
No mention of a Roku version of this service.

Oh please, oh please, have a Roku version. Even with a nomimal fee I'd add the channel to my Roku lineup.

Wait....how do I get HBO GO on my Playstation? I tried to figure it out once and I couldn't figure it out. We're trying to get my gf caught up on Game of Thrones, and the app on the Playstation could be helpful. Well, maybe, maybe not. The Playstation is piece of **** that has to update 80 things everytime it is used.

NMU used to have a two-camera setup back in the 90s before Bresnan Communications was bought out by Charter. It was broadcast on a local channel and available in a large chunk of the U.P. and was pretty good as far as local sports went. Now, most places have one crappy camera hooked up to the worst streaming service known to man (B2 Networks).

BSU would be ready to go as long as Lakeland Public Television keeps picking up the home games.
