The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

There was a balance of power when Minny and Wisco were in the conference. Once they left a Hockey school like UND was at the mercy of smaller schools and the way they voted. It wasn't a knee jerk reaction. I wonder what happens once you have to pay players? UND has already stated that Hockey will be taken care of first.

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

At this point in time it is a true statement that the NCHC is a better conference than the WCHA, but when you place the word "way" in front of the word "better" it becomes a false statement. The NCHC is currently deeper, I'll give you that, but the top half of the NCHC is merely equal to the top half of the WCHA. They're good, I won't say they aren't, but they aren't good enough to justify their arrogance and the way they bailed on the remaining WCHA/CCHA teams (especially after all the melodramatic whining they did after the Big Ten teams left).

I'm gonna weigh in here, with something that is apropos at this time.

National strength of schedule ranking, NCHC schools, in order of the current NCHC standings:

1. UNO 2nd
2. North Dakota 8th
3. UMD 1st
4. Miami 5th
5. Denver 6th
6. SCSU 3rd
7. W. Michigan 7th
8. CC 9th

National strength of schedule ranking, WCHA schools, in order of the current WCHA standings:

1. Purple Cows 12th
2. Michigan Tech 15th
3. Bowling Green 13th
4. N. Michigan 36th
5. Alaska 31st
6. BSU 4th
7. Ferris State 30th
8. UAH 34th
9. LSSU 20th
10. AA 47th

I submit that the top 3 teams in the NCHC have all played schedules that are markedly superior to the schedules played by the top 3 WCHA teams. I don't know what your basis for comparing the top 3 teams in the NCHC is with those of the WCHA, other than their won-loss records, which pretty clearly came against schedules that don't measure up to the teams they are being compared to. There is a pretty big difference in "degree of difficulty" here.

Further, every NCHC team has played a tougher schedule than that of any WCHA team except for the highlighted outlier, the Beavers. I think if I was a team playing them in your conference tourney I'd be casting a pretty wary eye on them because they have actually been off the porch and played with the big dogs.

Um, probably the Pairwise.

Right now, 62.5% of the NCHC is currently ranked in the top 10 of the pairwise. If the WCHA had stayed intact, 60% of the league would currently be ranked in the top 10 of the pairwise.

Also, Bidco should receive at minimum a 2 week forum ban for saying Dirty has class.

Also, everyone who uses the word "Minny" will burn in hell.

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Um, probably the Pairwise.

Yes, but............

Minnesota State, Michigan Tech, and Bowling Green have played 29, 30, & 28 games, respectively.

UNO, North Dakota, and Miami have played 26, 27, & 26 games, respectively. These 3 WCHA teams have had, between them, 8 more opportunities to pad their respective RPI's, and thus reap the Pairwise benefits of that, too.

Are you being serious?

After seeing the discussion about what qualifies as a Super Target, I should have known better than to dip my toes into this thread.

It's not what qualifies as a Super Target, it's that Fargo doesn't have one. Get it right!

I rarely have used it. Guess I'm burning in hell. :D

It's fascinating, in a car wreck sort of way. Next month, the debate turns to whether the conference tournament is being held in the Target Center or the SuperTarget Center.

Hmm, do concession stands qualify as groceries? I wonder if we could get Target to make a ruling on this. Speed Kills should email them.

I think they will have to rename it the Super Target Center anyhow due to hosting the Super Duper League Championship. Only makes sense.

Maybe should have thought of that before you tossed the Alaskan exemption to the curb.

You still haven't told me what's so special about Super Target. What can you get there that you can't get at regular Target? If it is groceries, then Fargo has one. If it isn't groceries, then I say you are not capable of telling me what the difference is. If you can't even tell me what the difference is, then I guess having a regular Target is good enough. I mean really, what kind of fool is going to decide not to live someplace just because their Target store isn't a Super Target? That's just silly.

Man, you are really interested in finding out about this aren't you? I think you want a Super Target too! You're just being coy about it.

SuperTargets have a deli counter, a bakery, a bigger selection of meat. Way better than a regular Target.

How have you been a member longer than Robert Morris has been around, and you don't know how arguing with Dirty works?

Way to ruin my fun by giving the correct answer. You're right though, at least 100% better than regular Target.

I don't think he is going away. This may rile him up even more.

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Wanna see some interesting NCHC-specific shooting stats?

I posted this elsewhere but it bears reposting here since it has detailed stats for all 8 teams.

NOTE: This is not my work.

Wow, UNO's 17 underclassmen apparently take a lot of crummy shots that get blocked. Gee, I hadn't noticed.
