Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

I love the anger and complaining you can always expect from Donald. Such a sourpuss who hates life.

So that's zero then (it's actually 2)? That whole "National" brand worked out well. How many home games does the BHHC have against the B!G Mistake next season? Didn't the league form because certain schools knew they'd get better teams in their rink than the crappy WCHA bottom feeders? Hows that working out? Let's see shall we?

Denver had mighty Cansius ... Niagara ... Merrimack at home instead of UAA, Bemidji, MTU or Mankato. WHAT? Denver only had SIX non-conference games this season? They lost two home games that they played at home every year for the last 20 years?

St. Cloud had Bemidji and Union instead of UAA, Bemidji, MTU and/or Mankato but smartly used their banked extra non-conference games to travel to Colgate or Alabama-Huntsville. Wow ... impressive 4 home non-conference games.

North Dakota had VErmont, Bemidji (the BHHC teams sure love them) and St. Larry ... quite the upgrade from UAA, MTU and Mankato ... right? They used their banked non-conference extra home dates to play 2 of their FOUR EXHIBITION games.

UMD sorta got a game against a team that's almost like a B!G school ... they hosted Notre Dame twice at home and played MTU twice there as well. Of course with only a THIRTY-FOUR game schedule they couldn't get any more dates. They did get to go to the DQ Brazier Cup and actually play a B!G team and former league-mate Mankato.

UNO used it's non-conference games to play Bentley, Cornell, NMU and was the only BHHC team to host a B!G team when mighty Michigan went to Omaha which was part of a legacy arrangement.

Yeah ... that whole "like-minded" thing is becoming clear now.

Tantrum level, achieved. 😆

I think that this might qualify as butt-hurt... Or that's what I gather from reading this...

Western and SCSU completed the NCHC nicely. Apparently, outgoing WCHA commish Bruce McLeod was on the radio with Tim Hennesy during the UND game against Wisconsin last night and McLeod said there would be more movement, yet again.

Sounds like BGSU is still butt hurt from not getting in the NCHC and is floating trial balloons out there. I heard some of the complaints about Miami and Western suffering from travel. I thought that was odd, since most Western school have to fly and take long bus rides. I have a hard time believing that MU and WMU would leave a great conference to be in a conference that would be less prolific. Who are they going to get to join them? They're division I in all of the sports like most in the NCHC except C.C. and UMD.
Western only had one flight in the CCHA and that was paid for by UAF. Their longest bus ride was 8 hours to NMU and 6 to LSSU. Half the trips were under 3 hours (BG, Ferris, UM, MSU, Notre Dame). Their travel increased by a huge amount, as did Miami's.

Strangely enough, only one, terrible conference has a chance to put two teams in Philly.

Holy Cow! Forget to take your medication today Donald? You realize that the fans aren't the ones that make these business decisions, right? If your angry with the schools involved send an email to their athletic directors. Nice to see that life in the lower 48 states agrees with you.

The Western schools have been traveling long distances for years. I don't see their point... They're in a good conference and whining about travel. DU, UAA, UAF, C.C. have long trips all of the time. UND takes the bus to UNO and back. That's what, 8 hours? Not feeling sorry for them. This boils down to BGSU throwing a fit because they're not in the NCHC and they're trying to gain leverage.

After Jan beats you???

As Hovey says, they've got a chance.

I know you guys are really excited about them...but I never got the W Michigan addition (or frankly Miami, but I suppose you needed 8) over SCSU decision. The NCHC needed the MN way too badly.

BGSU really has no leverage, nor can anything they do affect the NCHC. As for the astronomical increase in travel expense for Western & Miami, they should have seen it coming. And do CC, Denver, St Cloud and UMD add to their schedule that they didn't have with Ferris, BG or NMU?

They do have "some" leverage if they start pushing people to form a new league or get teams to move around... Its gets people talking about them. That brings the attention back to them. Right or wrong, their program was a mess when the NCHC was forming. They joined the WCHA after the NCHC wouldn't take them.

BGSU wants WMU and Miami in the same conference.

I can see the CCHA forming again since BGSU is a charter member of the CCHA and they still have the rights to start it up again.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

I can't.... Who's going to join them? Honestly, do you think MU and WMU are going to leave to NCHC? The CCHA minus Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State would be a step back from the conference they're in right now.

It would be a step back but I think it comes down to money and travel.

Other future members could be RMU, Mercyhurst, and Canasius who have all expressed interest in moving up to 18 scholies.

FSU may want to rejoin the CCHA.

The huge increase in their travel is a factor. And what do CC, Duluth & St Cloud to put butts in their seats that Ferris & Bowling Green don't? All the NCHC is is the half the old WCHA. And the names North Dakota and Denver don't bring any more excitement to local sponsors and ticket buyers than Lake Superior or NMU.

That would be a worse league than the CCHA was minus the B10 schools.

And it's so dam easy to push him there. I'll bet his first thought in the morning is a complaint about how he doesn't want to be awake, and his last thought at night is a complaint about how he doesn't want to go to sleep. My 4-year-old niece is a lot like that.

So they're not elite college hockey minds. I understand.
