Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

NCHC should announce the postseason trophy any day now...but it sounds like they won't have a name for it. Which is a good thing. Wait for a while to name it something.

Rumor has it in 2019 they'll name it the Black Cardinal trophy after the NCHC Fantasy Hockey dynasty

Way to be proud when you put in the effort of Paul Charchian and everyone else in the league puts in the effort of Meatsauce. You'd be an embarrassment to even a crappy school like SCSU if you didn't win the league every year.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

Does the NCHC (and the BIG) get an autobid?

Yes on the NCHC:

I don't know for sure about the Big 10. I have heard they have to wait a year since the rules, I believe, say you have you have at least a 6 team conference and the conference has to have two years under its belt. Presumably, the same circumstances exist for the Big 10 teams as did the NCHC teams, though.

Don't put Euro down. Think of all the money he will win from this league.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

Is it just me or is the NCHC's web site just plain awful?

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

I've really enjoyed this league so far.
Tight games, can't take a weekend off, fairly high lkevel of play.
Only complaint for me is the officiating seems to get more incompetent week to week.
Should be a great stretch run

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

It's you. I think it's fine.

Are you kidding? First, I think that its sad they can't list who is on which lines each night, the WCHA website does. In addition its littered with errors. Last week you would check the players stats and it said Michael Parks had no goals, but then in the game summary it said he had one. On Friday the site said that SCSU was up on UMD 5-4, yet the game finished 5-3. I checked and it had UMDs last goal put in twice Farley from Basaraba at 17:01 of the 3rd, then Farley from Basaraba at 17:01 of the 3rd again. Its terrible, write your Congressman.

It's fine because I don't use it for those things :p

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

Pretty sure that's what RC was referring to, little glitches and inaccuracies.

That's part of it.

I guess I am used to both the CCHA and WCHA web sites, both of which I prefer(ed) over the NCHC's. The NCHC's looks and feels "templatey".

I'd like their web site a lot more if the standings had UNO in first place. Alas..............

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

Best league in College Hockey, well its probably at least the most interesting heading into the final weekend. There is still a lot of possible movement in the Top 6 of the standings.

1) 42 ND Highest possible finish 1, Lowest possible finish 3
2) 42 SCSU Highest 1, Lowest 3
3) 39 UNO Highest 1, Lowest 5
4) 34 UMD Highest 3, Lowest 6
5) 34 WM Highest 3, Lowest 6
6) 32 DU Highest 4, Lowest 6

Currently ND has the big advantage with the most conference wins, so as long as they one game in regulation they can eliminate UNO from #1 seed contention. And doing exactly the same as SCSU or better wins the #1 seed as well.

If ND & SCSU or if would they would also finish tied with UNO, ND gets the #1 seed via most conference wins, unless they were to have both a shoot-out win and loss coupled with a SCSU win and UNO sweep in regulation or OT. Then they would all have the same number of conference wins, so the next tiebreaker would be head-to-head.

ND 1-3
SCSU 4-2
UNO 3-3

Then SCSU would be the #1 seed. UNO and ND split 4 games so the next tiebreaker for the #2 seed would be goal differential in those games.
Which UNO wins outscoring ND 14-12 so UNO would be the #2 seed, ND the #3 seed.

SCSU also wins head-to-head with ND 3-1 if those two alone finish tied with ND having the shoot-out results.

SCSU can pass ND by virtue of gaining more points. UNO can only pass ND if ND gets swept and UNO sweeps or ND wins and loses in a shoot-out.

SCSU can hold off UNO with 3 points, but as they win the tiebreaker with the best record vs. ND.

So now the bottom four. UNO can hold off UMD by forcing one game to the shoot-out, thus clinching home ice.

UNO can clinch the #3 seed with a win, but if Western sweeps and UNO gets 1 point or Western gets five with a shootout win and UNO get's swept the battle tiebreaker for 4th would be won by UNO by outscoring Western 8-6.

UMD has the advantage over Western if they finish tied by winning 3 of 4.

Should UMD and Denver finish tied Denver, Denver would have to pick up a regulation/OT win and UMD lose a shoot-out otherwise UMD wins tiebreaker.

If UMD loses in shoot-out and Denver picks up the one win they trail by. Denver wins the tiebreak by going 1-0-1 vs. UMD

Same scenario is in play for Denver vs. Western. If Western avoids a shoot-out loss and finishes tied with Denver. They win the tiebreaker based on conference wins.

If Western suffers a shoot-out loss and Denver picks up the regulation/OT win to tie. The tiebreaker is head-to-head won by Denver who won 3 of 4.

If UMD, Western and Denver all finish tied and UMD/Western don't have shoot-out loses then they would finish #4 UMD, #5 Western, #6 Denver.

If UMD and Western do have shoot-out loses and Denver picks up the game they trail by. Then the tiebreaker of head-to-head would be.

Denver 4-1-1
Duluth 4-1-1
Western 2-6

Western would be the #6 seed. Then it would be head-to-head between UMD and Denver (found above) with Denver being the #4 seed, UMD #5.

Best league? Pffft. The B1G Mistake is the best league, according to the PWR. Just sayin'.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

No doubt, but to bad more consideration doesn't go to the gauntlet and carnage of league play every weekend. Sadly getting 6 additional non-conference games (B1G) to pick up wins in counts for more than battling for position in those 6 games against some of the nations toughest competition (NCHC).
