Sure looks like they took some inspiration from the MacNaughton which was a pretty smart thing to do. Plus it's actually a cup, not some goofy thing. No clue what the B1G trophy folks were thinking.

B1G leadership. Top notch. B1G marketing. Leaves something to be desired. See Leaders and Legends...errr...East/West divisions.

I think if you fell on the BI6 trophy you'd be split into sections. I think it looks like an apple corer.

The B1G Trophy looks like something you would put on the end of an arrow and be used to shoot at deer.

I have heard many of the "top" refs who banned together were more than happy the Shepherds will be on a even playing field now that there is no "old" WCHA anymore. They got sick of the Shepherds getting the best treatment by the league office and the officiating office.

The league has an app...which I think is fantastic. I'm interested to see how the app will work. Looks like you can PUSH notifications for your teams scoring. We'll have to wait for the season to start to see exactly how that app works. I cannot think of another college hockey league that has a league specific app.

Having worked with SportNgin before...well it could still work out. Historically their mobile apps have been less than intuitive in my experience.

Before the the start of UNO's exhibition game last night with NAIT, a fellow sitting close to me said that he was a UNO season ticket holder, and that had given his seats in the section in front of us to a customer, and had bought the seats next to mine for the game that night for he and his family.

Making UNO/hockey small talk, he then proceeded to ask me: "What does NCHC stand for?"

Sigh.

They've got some marketing and name brand recognition to work with. Winning will help with that.

Sounds like they will also post a feature question of the week with interviews from coaches and players. It's nice to have a conference that actually cares about social media and showing off its brand.

That feature question is different than their five minute radio show/podcast they already do?

PS: Thank god the Fab Four idea was shot down. I don't mind if either name wins for the NCHC Tournament...I voted for NCHC Championship but wished I would have voted Frozen Faceoff. Just so you could say Frozen Faceoff champion instead of having to clarify between regularly season and postseason championship.

Lastly, they really take into consideration suggestions from fans on their app. I love how the app updates you on players of the week and other info related to the conference...sadly their PUSH notifications for games are too slow. But they have a great statistics page from their website that makes it easier to follow the games as you watch/listen live.

I haven't listened to the radio show but the question feature will be posted today so I guess we will find out. One of the goals of the videos is to have the arenas play them before the game or during intermission. So even if it's the same, it's going to reach more people.
