Search YouTube for "best of rifftrax ".

You won't be disappointed. The Twilight ones are amazing.

I'm sure they're great given the guys involved, but I find the audience reax very annoying. The best thing about the SOL was the complete deadpan.

They've done live stuff recently, but mostly RiffTrax are studio mp3 files meant to be played alongside dvd copies of the movies.

I know Dumb and Dumber To isn't supposed to be cinematic greatness, but it's going to be horrendously awful. I'm watching Dumb and Dumber right now and most of the bits are from them not having any common sense, yet in the trailer for the sequel they're depicted like they're mentally handicapped. I just can't see that movie working when the characters aren't even the same.

I saw it on Saturday. It's not as good as the first one, which is always the default assumption for a sequel, but it's a fun movie and has its moments. Rob Riggle's character would have been better if it was played by someone other than Rob Riggle, for no other reason than the guy annoys me. It's not that he even did a bad job with the role, it's just that it's him. And it's good to see that Kathleen Turner can laugh at herself. :)

"everything old is new again."

For some of the big release silent movies, they actually had scores that traveled with the movie for the local orchestra to play along. For mid-tier movies there was a score for organ or piano and the movie theater organist / pianist would play along. So "silent movies" often DID have a "soundtrack" after all!

I remember seeing a re-release of Napoleon that played on three screens at once and had an orchestral score conducted by Coppola.

The Abel Gance version? I love the snowball fight scene.

One reviewer is thoroughly unimpressed with the latest installment of The Hunger Games

How do you waste one of the most exciting young actresses of our time — not to mention the time and money of millions of moviegoers?

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” accomplishes this by turning Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen groundbreaking woman warrior into pretty much a spectator in this insufferably dull penultimate installment, which thinly spreads a half-hour’s worth of plot over two plodding hours
.

Fun trivia: many organists specialized in being able to respond "on the fly" to the movie and provide mood music. That skill transferred well to hockey, which is why the classic hockey barns had in-house organs.

Dame sobh (Day Break)

Iranian/Persian movie. Guy is convicted of murder, and under Islamic law, the victim's family decides if he lives or dies. However, every time the victim's family has to show for the verdict, they don't show up, prolonging his fate.

I thought it was decent, definitely worth a watch. Some of it is lost in culture translation, obviously, but it's minimal. I, for one, cannot imagine awaiting that fate, and then having it prolonged when called up. If you want to take a chance on a movie, this would be worth it.

Cue Nelson.

e.g.

One of the hottest skin flicks of the year, the opening sequence where the mailman accidentally drops his package in Mrs. Cameron's box sets the tone for this scintillating wild romp of naughty tinsel and mistletoe foot rub sessions gone RIGHT.

So... uh... Jurassic World trailer... There's a pack of trained raptors running through the jungle with Chris Pratt while he rides a motorcycle. I repeat: Pack of trained Raptors. Motorcycle. Jungle.

Yeah I kinda dug the first part of that trailer...but a mutant hybrid dinosaur and trained raptors? No thanks...

Whatever charm was left from the original (which still holds up) is completely gone now.

The Pan trailer got me interested.

All I saw was CGI, CGI, and more CGI. That, and a lot of hammy acting.

This is a film series that should've quietly died after they flubbed the film adaptation of The Lost World.
