The Rock announced he is playing Black Adam in The Shazam movie and all reports are it will stay true to the story and be fun. That of course spits in the face of the click sites trolling with the "no jokes in DC movies" lie ;)

Will the PC terrorists force them to change the name of his character? ;)

Speaking of which, imagine a network trying to reboot the series M*A*S*H and sticking with the character Spearchucker Jones? Ugly John and Hotlips might still pass.

Watched Locke with Tom Hardy. Funny thing is I watched it by accident, because when I read a long ways back that it was his character alone driving in his car and talking on his phone I thought there's no way I would enjoy it. By happy accident though it was terrific, especially Tom Hardy.

Joe. Don't care what anyone says about Nic Cage, but he nailed this one.

It's Kind Of A Funny Story.

Teen checks himself into mental hospital, is forced to live in the adult wing. I hate the word "quirky" to describe a movie (the word is over-used), but don't know how else to really describe it. It's not quite serious enough to be a serious movie, and the comedy in it isn't quite black/dark comedy. I did like it, however. Zach Galifianakis was excellent in it, which astounded me. He is usually too over-the-top for my tastes (Will Farrell is the same to others). I also immediately thought of Farrell in "Stranger Than Fiction." I think Zach should more of these roles (like Farrell in "Stranger"), as he still shows humor, but the muted delivery is perfect for him.

If you haven't seen it, I'd say check it out.

Wasn't Spearchucker in just a few first season episodes - never to be seen again?

For me it's the original Producers and Blazing Saddles.

Yeah, Speakchucker Jones made it into maybe three or four episodes in the first season, then was dropped from the cast. Given how low the ratings were for the show in its first season, it's tough to know if it was a production cost reason, storytelling reasons, or due to outside pressures.

You couldn't reboot All in the Family now; nobody would get the joke. Archie would just seem like he was repeating House Republican Conference position papers.

Short movie-referenced story about my curernt employment.

So I work in a Trust Operations group, recently re-orged into a role as both business analyst and tech support. I already handle depository asset settlement support as I've helped either design or fix most of those systems, and made comment one of the guys in my office that I wasn't looking forward to adding mutual funds processing support, too. He replies to me, "Mutual Funds aren't that bad. Actually, strike that, they're not that bad if you know what you're getting into, like being forced to watch Slap Shot 2 or Caddyshack 2. Forced to watch them." So I got that going for me, which is nice.

They've said it was storytelling. They realized there were no african-american surgeons in Korea, so they dropped his character.

At least that's the official reason.

Makes me wonder about the black physicist at the Oak Ridge, Tennessee nuclear plant in one episode of Manhattan.

I don't know if any specifically worked in Oak Ridge but multiple black scientists did work on the Manhattan project.

Of course because that series was nothing if not about historical accuracy. :p

Given the players involved....Interstellar....

Shut up and take my money.

First movie in years where I'd never heard about it, saw the trailer and said, "oh hellyeah"

Last movie I saw in a theater was Machete Kills. I think before that, was The Dark Knight Rises. I just may see this one in a theater.

Edit: Taken 2 is in there. Forgot about that one.

That's on my list as well... Although not sure what Nolan is thinking since the thing is supposed to be **** near 3 hours long.... I don't do well with long movies...

Also, seems like the hot rumor is that the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer will be attached to Interstellar... The fanboy in me will be able to justify the $5 to see this at least...

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Had really high hopes for this after the first ten minutes or so but it never really went anywhere interesting or funny.

Kept waiting.... Still waiting...
