The Medical Thread: We're experts on everything else; why not?

Drove myself to the ER last night. Around 5:00pm I started feeling some sharp pain in my upper right abdomen. Made dinner mate, it got worse. I felt a little off. Felt minor chills and I was tired. Took two Tylenol around 7:15pm, went to bed. Felt ok sleeping on my right side, which is odd since that’s where the pain was, but when I turned on my left side, or on my back, it hurt quite a bit. Took a 600mg ibuprofen around 11:30, and nothing.

Wasn’t sure what it could be, was worried it was my gallbladder. My mom had a gallbladder attack years ago and I remember her pain. I toyed with trying to sleep it out but I couldn’t. I debated about calling 911, but if I was taken to the hospital I wouldn’t have a ride home. So, I drove myself. I will say, probably the best time to get to an ER is 2:00am, because no one was there and they took me in within five minutes. Peed in a cup, they took blood, did an ultrasound,Mass absolutely nothing. Recommended a CT scan , had that done. Nothing. So, it could be some pulled muscles, which is odd since I barely moved yesterday. Or gas. I thought probably not due to the location but the doctor said your large intestine ropes up that high.

Anyway, they gave me nothing, told me to follow up with my Pcp and I drove home. Put a heating pad on it, slept a couple of hours. It feels a little better. It’s not my gallbladder, pancreas, liver, or kidneys. Man it sucks getting old.

There’s a gene out there that will determine if you’re on the road to early onset Alzheimer’s, it’s called “presenilin 1.”

Pre-senile in 1. Whoever named that thing has no fucks left to give, and is an evil genius.

On September 16, I fell and suffered a non-displaced fracture of the hamate bone in my left hand.

I didn't even know that bone existed until I broke it.

4 days ago I got a nose bleed for the first time in my life. A total gusher, ruined every article of clothing I was wearing. Since then I've had three more. None seem to correlate with anything.

Am I dying?

I mean, yes, I'm dying, but am I dying faster?

It's fall and it's dry some people turn the heat on. Are you taking antihistamines? This is the time of year I get them (now and then again in January).

Yeah, I know.

Didn't have a cavity until 30. Didn't break a bone until 34. Never had pimples. Been to hospital once.

Just enough Nordic blood to be a God.

I'm 37 and I haven't had a cavity. Still haven't broken a bone either. Never been to a ho.. wait, there was the time my brother hit me with 2x2. Can't remember if we went to the hospital for stitches or a clinic.

Looks like Mrs burd and I caught covid finally. Took a vacation in Santa Fe/Taos last week. Would feel better if I got it from a real American.

the good thing is that there are a lot of right wing political rallies to attend while we’re still infectious.

We’re you raised in a padded cage? WT F was wrong with you that you didn’t break a bone or require a hospital trip growing up?

The thing with me is I was free range and looking back there are at least 20 times when I had no business not breaking a bone if not my neck. My special power isn't health, it's like Teela Brown's luck.

Had a colonoscopy yesterday, don't remember anything but the clean out which is never fun. Any of you hitting 45 or 50 yrs old, don't shy away from getting it done.

by all rights I should have several times. I fell off on of those 15' high playground platforms and made it out with a sprained wrist.

I slipped climbing a tree about 20-25' up but ended up grabbing the trunk and rode it nearly to the ground. My entire chest was scraped to shit, bloodied, and my shirt was shredded.

I've always hated hospitals since I was very young. My mom has stage 4 breast cancer and we spent a lot of time there. She's still kicking 35+ years later!

The worst thing about the colonscopy is that vile substance that makes you sh-t clear. The procedure itself is just a trip to Fentanyl Heaven. I think it may catch on.
