Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Anzalone installed toughness, had the players in playing shape, they did well in classes and the product was starting to turn around. We saw that a couple years later when they made it to Joe Louis Arena. Those were Frank's players.
TBA

The Lakers made it to the Joe that year because Jeff Jakaitis stood on his head at Miami.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Frank Anzalone was and is a good coach but his last tenure at Lake State proved one thing. It does not matter how capable a coach is, Lake State will never be a top end program in the current NCAA environment. Boot_Jim_Roque may disagree but the reality is that if the Lakers fired Rouque and brought in Jeff Jackson, the results would not be that much different.

As I stated previously, there are to many things going against Lake State for any coach to overcome. This does not mean that the Lakers will be consistant cellar dwellars but they will never be consistantly in the top four or even top half either.

We will just have to be content with a team that gives its all and from time to time takes a run at a CCHA final four appearance.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

I think winning attracts better recruits. I think having a coach that players improve under attrack better recruits. I think having a decent university and a decent facility attracts better recruits . Can the Lakers put all of that together and attract better recruits ? I think with the new program coming in in 2012 they are working in that direction. I think with what seems a better Freshmen year the last couple years they are working in that direction and I think it is possible to rebuild them into a contender each year with hard work and a state of the art developement program which we all hope will begin to happen in 2012.

You people have such high expectations for your beloved Lakers. This can't be the view of the majority of people up there? This forum is packed with Jim Roque lovers who can see nothing wrong with nosedives in the second half of the season, players getting worse as they move along their four years there, dwindling attendance, and continued bottom finishes in the standings.

You people get so bent out of shape when anyone dares criticize the Lakers, this administration or your hockey program. You want to poke fun at the Anzalones at every chance and you truly have no appreciation of the three national championships that would not have happened without the work and skill of one Frank Anzalone.

If it makes you people feel better that's ok keep throwing shots at him and Francis, keep making excuses if it makes you feel better following this team that is going no where and maybe your best bet is DIII because it is so unfair and hard for a smaller school like Lake State to compete. Tell that to the other small schools that don't seem to have that problem. Of course they don't have apologists for this coach that does not get the job done year after year. Miss him yet?

TRUTH,has a light ever gone on in your head to tell you that you are the only one who brings up Anzalone all the time.

I was really looking forward to listening to that before coming up for the games and to hear if my question got ask.

I know Bill Crawford always asks tough questions, but does anyone know if they took any questions from the fans because I called one in asking what grade Crawford would give coach Roque during his time at Lake State and what grade the coach would give himself and his vastly underrated coaching staff?

Go Lakers!

Jimbo and The Gong Show have to get a rating somewhere between an A plus and an A plus plus. Lets face it folks who else but Jimbo could ever have lead these Lakers to the success they've had over the last few years. And lets not forget about all the quality players The Gong Show has brought to the program. Surely no coaching staff in the country could have done what this group has. We just need to be a little more patient and this coaching staff will finally deliver that 8th place finish Laker fans have been dreaming about.

Still waiting to hear what it was, exactly, Francis Anzalone brought to Lake State.
Me too Neil, I'm still waiting to hear what it is exactly that Jim Roque has brought to Lake State to justify him being around so long. Well whatever it is I'm just gonna sit back, relax and enjoy these Lakers and their first rate talent they put out on the ice.

In the last four years 38 wins out of 122 games. I'll leave it to you "objective" Laker fans to figure out the winning percentage on that but I am sure it is good enough for you people!

Hey Bill and Neil and does that warrant a five-year contract extension if they win 13 games this season and finish in 10th place? You people are so predictable up there.

When you say "last four years", you're really only counting the last three full seasons plus the first 8 games of this season. While I don't think any Laker fans are happy with those numbers, in the last four full seasons under Frank Anzalone the Lakers won 32 games out of 149. They have 57 wins out of 157 games in Roque's last four full seasons, by comparison. Under both coaches there were numerous ties; 20 under Anzalone, and 23 (last four full seasons) under Roque.

Well, it's hard to argue with Truth Squid and BJ now.

I mean, with Roque having a 36% winning percentage, and Anzalone having a 21% winning percentage, how can the Lakers NOT bring Frank back??

I think it's funny how Truth Squid, Serum, and BJ talked to each other as if she was three different people.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

When a team gets outplayed and wins, fans leave enjoying the moment. When a team outplays another team and lose, fans leave disgusted and I am sure that is how the fans left tonight.

Six powerplay chances, forty plus shots,no powerplays against them, and the Lakers lose. The defense should be shown the goals that were scored against them and made to write a paper every night until the first of the year on why they lost and why did Northen score the goals they did. Wilson not only had to battle Northern, but he had to try and defend the mistakes made in front of him by his own players. If I hear Roque say his players need to learn to finish the play and put the puck in the net,I will scream. Roque, you are the coach. Teach them how to finish plays and show them what they are doing wrong. You are the teacher aren"t you or is there someone else pulling the strings. Another game the Lakers should have won but somehow in all their coaching and talent, another one tossed away. Maybe the A team will show up tomorrow night. Too many upper classmen skating and not doing much more than going up and down the ice.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Imagine Western and Bowling Green getting new coaches and both teams won tonight against teams that last year under their old coaches would have beaten Bowling Green and Western easily.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

The first two goals of the game it looked like it was a half hearted scrimmage on the ice, Lakers just standing watching them skate around. BMW played a strong game but his team did not help him out at all.

In my oppinion we lost because we were out coached and the NMU goalie played outstanding.
