so, you must spend a lot of time on porn hub? or you're spending a ton on child support for a dozen unwanted kids

There's also the Natural Family Planning options. My fiancée wants to use the Creighton Method, based largely upon she being Catholic. It's a way to obey the Church and still not have an old Irish-sized family.

The internet isn't really something that nature intended, I'm guessing Brent doesn't use it.

Based on Brent's posts I'm assuming his views are discussed with his partner well in advance. Otherwise I can't really envision someone being okay with the following:

"Hey, do you have protection"
"Yeah, it's in the drawer."
"Keep it there."

Or just as bad, what about protecting yourself from STIs? I mean, that's the thing ignored in all of this discussion.

he'd just say that is one of the potential consequences. Prevention is out. I wonder if treatment is out too?

Brent, if your partner took a plan B afterward would you be mad?

Why is everybody on here assailing Brent for holding a different view? The man said he's not forcing his decisions on anyone else - he's not trying to affect public policy. He put it out there, end of story. It's one thing to have a general curiosity about it, but it really reads like piling on at this point. Carryover from another thread where he's the ideological outcast?

Partly because being against birth control for non-religious reasons is a "does not compute" moment. If not for religion, then why would anyone be against it?

And partly because he opened with this: "You make that sort of decision (the sex) you deal with ALL the consequences."

As much as he later said he wouldn't impose that standard on anyone else, that statement is hard to read as anything other than commanding others what to do.

Piling on is the lifeblood of internet forums.

The last question I posed was out of genuine curiosity and I'm trying not to further pile on at this point. I really can't blame anyone for their initial reactions to that though.

But there are other issues at play with this philosophy specifically as it relates to women. Birth control is a personal health issue for one. It also doesn't really compute that they should have to give it up potentially sacrificing their health in some cases to truly love someone. STD's as DX pointed out hasn't really been addressed either. While I'm not exactly trying to change Brent's mind on that front, it's totally ****ed and not exactly a healthy mindset if you want to have a normal relationship with someone in this century. If he finds someone with that mindset and they're happy then more power to them.

What if you and your partner don't always agree on abstinence. Asking for a friend.

Then, as Brent stated, you suffer the consequences. He's a vengeful God. Don't mess with him.

I'm honestly curious about Brent's view. What are your thoughts on marriage if the couple has no intention of having kids? Do you believe the purpose of marriage is to raise a family?

If sex is solely for procreation, what about other intimate acts that may lead to sex? Do you believe those should only be done if you're ready to deal with all the consequences?

Personally, I heart my birth control pill. Warning: female bodily function discussion. It is so great to no longer lose a day of work/productivity due to cramps every month. It's nice to not have to visit the restroom every 2-3 hours for a week. This is what angers me most when men start discussing birth control, that they don't realize it is a prescription that can address lots of issues other than not making babies.

I wonder what happens to women like me who don’t want kids and my uterus sits here unused?

Well since there's nothing, nothing, but if we're hypothesizing about a Magic Universe.

If it's the OT God you are f-cked. (Ironic.)

If it's the NT God Jesus says meh.

If it's the New Age Goddess you get a high five and a poker to torture Brent for all eternity. Which sounds boring.

So, basically, nothing good.

I was hoping one of the women on here would chime in on this.

I was on them for years for this reason. My sister was prescribed at age 16 after laying on the floor unable to move at school from cramps.

I don’t care that Brent thinks this way. What I care about are the men who are in positions to make laws about women’s health and pull this BS.
