The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #60

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #60

Thanks for brining this thread back to the first page, FS23; this FF should provide this thread some changes in the rankings, for sure. What is the timetable for updating the rankings at the end of this season? I would like to pass the AH team writeup baton to another this year. :-)

Again, thanks to FS23 for doing this year in and out... always a fun read.

It's one that I always come back to...

Thanks...it's crazy to think I have been putting this together for nearly 10 years now.

It typically takes me about 2 weeks to get everything in and then do the triple-double check, so I should have the numbers ready by the end of April. I might do the reveal slightly differently this year, so I may not need as much help as in year's past.

As for Saturday night, it looks like it will be a tremendously close race between Duluth and Tech for the 10 spot if the Bulldogs take the title. If the Irish lift their first title, it might shake things up a bit more than I was originally thinking...but they should still crack the Top 20.

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #60

I suppose it's probably a good time to get this thread moving again. As alluded to earlier, I will be doing the reveal differently this year, as shown below. I'll attempt to do 5 teams per week, but can do more to catch up if necessary. At that pace, we should have this wrapped up just before the season begins...and we can transition back to more exciting topics. It's a bit streamlined from previous seasons, so let me know what you think. So, without further delay, #60-56:

So I assume the vast majority of ASU's points are from beating a team like MTU that made the tournament?

I would have to go back and check the formula, but I would guess you are correct. Plus, MTU was a double bonus, as they are a former champion. Of course, we are talking about three hundredths of a point.

Another three hundredths of a point by AZ State this coming season will bump Bentley into last place, unless the Falcons can muster better than two ten thousandth of a point as they did this past season.

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #60

bentley should be much higher due to all the wins they have over northeastern (best team since sliced bread!!) ;)

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #60

Know we have several months before The Top 10. Even though gophers didn't make the tournament, I project DU eats into their 30 point lead, but not enough to take over the third spot. BC and BU may flip spots at #s 5 and 6, but not enough points to take DU out of #4.

You know I'm not a NoDak fan, but I hope the ugly helmets don't take the top spot.

Bentley's biggest issues are they don't play a very difficult schedule, have a short history, and can't quite seem to win their conference. They are one of only 7 programs to have never captured conference hardware, and of those, Bentley has played fewer D-1 games than any of them...sans Arizona State. If they can get over the hump and win some hardware, they can move up. If not, then it does appear that Arizona State will pass them in the very near future.

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #60

How long has it been since Michigan won a national title? 20 years? Michigan hockey is the equivalent of Notre Dame football, coasting off a reputation built decades ago.

How long has it been since BC has been to a Frozen Four? Over 6 years? It's only been 3 months for Michigan.
