U. of Michigan isn't north of all of those schools. For example, UW, minny, and the sue are all definitely north of Mich. BC and BU are pretty even; and DU is south of Michigan.

I am married to Ohio State woman who loves OSU football. We never say Michigan in my house, it is always that team up north, that'

to the goof ball who neg reped me saying "one stat is stupidly short sighted" , The one freaking stat was NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! Ill take Denver's 7 over Goof's 5 no matter how many other trophies your team has. Geesh. Like I said, maybe 1 NC more would be palatable, 2, sorry, ill take DU any way you want to cut it.

I bet he is counting total times each team has made it to the championship game. Goofs are 5-7 (12) Du is 7-3 (10)
So he is going to rank the Goofs higher. Is going end UW, BU, DU, BC, Goofs, ND and TTUN.

DU isn't a flagship institution, has only been around 60some yrs, doesn't have the W/L record (either head-to-head or against others), and rode the wake of national realignment...was not the cause. You may be right but the vast majority of factors say not.

I more worried about the Evil gophers tying UW at 6. I am a realest because UW isn't not getting Title number 7 anything time soon.

If this was a football discussion I'd respect it (even with Michigan's current debacle) but come on. Ohio State had never been anything more than an also ran in hockey....

The Wisconsin Badgers come in at #6. The Badgers had a strong 2013-2014 campaign, winning 24 games, the inaugural Big Ten Tournament Championship, and were a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately for head coach Mike Eaves' crew, the Badgers were bounced in the first round. Wisconsin has an incredible history at the Division 1 level. While the Badgers had limited success in their early years, when the program was resurrected in the mid-60s, Wisconsin quickly jumped to being a national power, winning their first NCAA Championship by 1973. The Badgers continued to showcase their dominance on the ice over the next four decades, winning at least one title in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s, the only program to accomplish such a feat. Only three programs have more National Championships than the Badgers, but Wisconsin falls just short of the top 5. If the Badgers can continue to win hardware, make NCAA Tournament appearances, and perhaps win another title, they will surely move up the rankings. For now, they sit at #6.

The Boston University Terriers come in at #7. The Terriers had an awful campaign last season by their standards, winning just 10 games (the program's fewest in 50 years). That resulted in the program dropping a spot in these rankings. However, BU looks like a very solid team once again this season, and the Terriers will look to capture the glory days from the 1970s and 1990s. In the 70s and 90s, the Terriers made an incredible 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, an astonishing 14 Frozen Four births, and won an impressive 4 NCAA National Championships. Unfortunately for the Terrier faithful, they have only 1 trip to the Frozen Four since 1997 (albeit a glorious 2008-2009 campaign that ended with a national title). BU will look to add to their impressive trophy collection this season, and if they do so, the Terriers will likely jump back up into the top 5. For now, they sit at #7.

Yeah, I'll talk about it more when I'm done with this list, but Michigan State is stuck for the time being at #8. They might be the only team in the whole list that is secure in their spot for at least a couple years.

edit: ok, so the vacated victories don't affect the rest of CCHA history.

"In the case of regular season games, the penalized team's win is removed from its official NCAA record. The losing team, however, retains the loss, and individual statistics resulting from the subject game(s) are not affected other than for players declared specifically ineligible.[1][2] These changes affect the penalized team's season records, all-time records and coaches' records. Thus for example, a team that was 10-2 during a season in which it fielded ineligible players would have its record revised to 0-2."
