The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

I don't know where you could push them that would avoid this. Right Wing nonsense is on the rise everywhere.

They could have each gone to U.S. accredited U's in Thailand which is a country that doesn't fuck around with Covid. Neither does Australia for starters.

My brother spent the last 10 years of his medical career serving as embassy doc in places like India, Turkey, and Mali. He waited to make that move until his two kids graduated from high school. He has said that had he known the quality of education (I realize this is not university level) his kids could have had in those environments, he would probably make the move while they were still in school, preferably younger. Those were probably largely international schools he is thinking of, and I have no idea what the story is on those, but I think he feels he missed an opportunity to place his kids in a more diverse, less America-centric learning environment.

I will say this - when we moved here (August 2014) it was 100% my intention we would return and I had no misgivings about it at the time. On the positive they both experienced a wonderful education that's not necessarily superior to that of MN schools but they've traveled and seen things they never would have otherwise, and going to Thailand 1-2 times a year since was icing on the cake. Their H.S. has seen kids admitted to the Ivy League, etc. so they certainly did not lack for being prepared.

They're fucking amazing kids and way more mature than I was at their age - maybe even now. Worldly, astute, prescient and giving. I worry though about the world they face in the U.S. 5 years ago I would have laughed at the notion of not wanting to live the U.S. Now? All bets are off.

And the sad thing is we will likely return for at least as long as they are in college. The thought is we will buy a place when we come back and then it will be gifted to them to use at their will. But unless things drastically change we're gone after that even if it means at the expense of seeing family more than we would like. We have a house and a condo in Thailand and I can't see our minds being changed between now and then that a life in the U.S. is not the life for us.

I've talked to my daughter and future son-in-law about the possibility that they might leave the country if the Nazis win again. It's something we need to face as a scenario. Think of how many German lives were saved by a timely exit in the 1930s.

I'm staying to fight the fucks, but I've had a good run, and I have enough property to have some protection. And, frankly, I've never really dug my stay on this planet after that Amazon mix-up during birth delivery from whichever more advanced place I belonged. But my kid still has most of her life to go and no demon seeds of her own to worry about transplanting, so there are already about 25 countries better than here, and if the conservatives nuke democracy that number will triple.

Great. I'm more pessimistic than Scoob. And we play North Dakota in 5 hours.

It's not as bad as you imagine. Being more pessimistic than Scooby may be death by a thousand cuts, but the North Dakota game will be a beheading. You won't feel a thing.

"We did not want the Republican voice to go unheard, and we did not want today's historical narrative to be hijacked by those who were the true insurrectionists," Gaetz said. And so, in a meeting room in the Cannon House Office Building, two flights up from where Democratic lawmakers were at the same time recalling their personal horrors from Jan. 6, the duo (Gaetz and Greene) spent 37 minutes telling reporters that Jan. 6 was a "fed-surrection," a plot perpetrated by the FBI.

When Dumpies realize they've been had, but are too stupid to see beyond Dump and conclude all of his lies are also BS.

That guy doesn't realize he has been had...he doesn't think Trump went far enough. He blames him for the vaccine mandates (ushering in medical tyranny) and for exploding the debt along with new gun laws. Also while he admits Trump lost he said fraud happened which is why he lost his primary.
