The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

The side issue on that is medical bankruptcies. Deaths are also an indicator of people getting hospitalized, and since treatment is getting better, there are a lot more people spending time in hospitals racking up huge bills that have to be paid.

So it will be interesting to see if any of that changes minds over medicare for all. I doubt it, but watch this space- there is more to it than deaths.

Those counties dont have a lot of people...losing even a few people could have major ramifications in any election that is close. The stats for Flo(R)ida with DeathSantis is the best example.

Texas proposed new maps are out. Making sure Lt. Dan’s district gets a little redder

Random, but along those lines:

I assume someone in the MTU and/or Minnesota demographic on here has kept touch with BigBlueDL. Has he gone full on DERP or is he seeing the problems at hand? I mean, he's a good litmus test for how people that were hardcore conservative in their 20's are shifting their views as they age. Dude has a solid college education and is doing well for himself and is starting a family.

If someone like him starts coming around, it's a sign of worry for R's.

If I remember right, he started to disavow some of the nuttyness on the right before he disappeared from the board

Schadenfreude is fun and all, but the ultimate outcome is that the next R takes those counties by 85% instead of 90%.

True. There just aren't any competitive districts anymore, so it doesn't matter for the House, and may not matter for State delegates.

It matters for statewide and the President, though.

That's kind of where I was going with this. It's people like him, Swansong, and others who may lead "conservative" lifestyles, but realize the damage that electing them will cause. Swing votes like that will decide our fate over the next 10 years.

And it won't matter if they suppress enough minority votes and/or change the law to have their R-dominated state legs in charge of elections so that they can vote to overturn or just not certify the results. Michigan's 2022 elections will be one of the first big tests for this plot, with all the major state offices on the line.

LWT had a solid piece on voter suppression and it's scary to think how little is being done (imho) to combat it. Both legislatively but also with the media. Democrats without shrieking need to expose these tactics, but better yet the DNC needs to be planning now how to help get around any b.s. laws that cannot be overturned before the next wave of elections take place.

This article from the WP should motivate anyone into action.

Tie everything up for as long as you can with court challenges. In the meantime, you campaign to have everyone check their registration, you run registration drives on a scale even greater than 2018 and 2020, and you figure out how you're getting your people to the polls and to stay in line for however long it takes, and in ways that don't violate whatever laws will be enforceable in the fascist states. Encourage people to eat before they go and to bring beverages and snacks with them. Hell, maybe even wear Depends. Whatever it takes.

The new Minnesota gop chair said he supports investigating 2020 election results.
