The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

So the officers that got the Congressional Gold Medal for 1/6 refused to shake hands with McConnell and McQarthy...

Shaming them is a powerful weapon.

Even against those who have no shame. As more and more people treat them in the only manner they deserve, the more effective it becomes.

Posted elsewhere with a straight face:

Donald Trump was teh most successful one term President in the history of the United States. Policy is the most important measurement and there is no argument that his policies were superior to Obama and Biden's. Economics. Foreign policy. Energy policy. Trade. Immigration. Trump had tremendous instincts politically. I prefer bad tweets to bad policy.

Trump Organization is found guilty on all counts. I'm not sure what that means, though. For him. Or his family. Or cronies.

He's insulated I'm sure because it's a corporation. Corporations give these fuckers shield from the law.

That has to be a limited protection in cases in which it is proven that the owners and/or officers were racketeers, right? I can't incorporate and then defraud you and walk, right?

Yes. See Hertz Rental Car settlement today.

(Well aware these are two separate issues, but I'm sure Unofan will clear both up.)

How good are your lawyers? Someone might take the fall doesn't mean Trump will.

I've successfully handled fraudulent transfer cases and involuntary corporate dissolution cases but not a veil piercing case. But intentional fraudulent conduct will lose you a lot of protections, including insurance coverage. I suspect you are correct. UNO will weigh in on this, hopefully.

I only stayed at a Holiday Inn but lawyers I follow said he is not out of the woods and it did sound like some wheels are in motion. Will it amount to anything...not likely.

Here's Ted Cruz joking about something bad happening to a family member at Nancy Pelosi's house: https://twitter.com/tedcruz/status/1587073960096800769

Maybe something he regrets doing?

And just in time comes this.

The man who allegedly broke into Nancy Pelosi’s home in San Francisco and attacked her husband with a hammer had a list of other “targets,” as well as a bag containing duct tape and zip ties, multiple media outlets citing law enforcement sources reported.

Paul Pelosi, 82, was hospitalized after the attack and underwent surgery for a fractured skull as well as being treated for injuries to his hands and arms. His accused assailant has been identified as 42-year-old David DePape, a resident of Berkeley, California. VICE News reported Friday that DePape left a trail of online hate and appeared to ascribe to a grab bag of far-right conspiracy theories, including Pizzagate, Holocaust denial, and anti-LGBTQ “grooming” narratives. He also railed against the government, promoted COVID-19 disinformation, and went on long rants targeting women and minorities.
