More bullsh1t from Fox:
https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/26/business/fox-news-gold-star-family-apology/index.html

Fox News apologized Saturday to a Gold Star family for publishing a false story last month claiming that the family had to pay $60,000 to ship the remains of their fallen relative back from Afghanistan because the Pentagon refused to pay.

I remember this story and how worked up the fascists got over it, and even then I thought it outlandish and probably untrue. And, sure enough, it's make believe.

If you watch Fox News in 2023, you're just watching fantasy stories. Truth has as much to do with it as milk has to do with a McDonald's shake.

Good ol' country bumpkin fascism.

“What our schools need are mental health professionals,” Jones said. “We need funding for mental health, for counselors. We need to pay our teachers better. We don’t need more police in our schools.”

Sexton then ruled Jones out of order, setting up a vote on whether to quiet him for the rest of Monday’s session.

What happened next was a chaotic flurry of legislative proceedings, where Democrats outraged at the decision to move ahead to try to silence Jones for the day began pleading with their GOP colleagues to change their minds. Republican lawmakers remained unconvinced, however, with 70 GOP members voting to silence Jones. Democratic members then angrily left the chamber with Jones.

Guess he should be thankful he wasn't caned.

Nazi alert.

“The Mandate for Leadership” is a 920-page document that details how the next Republican administration will implement radical and sweeping changes to the entirety of government. This blueprint assumes that the next president will be able to rule by fiat under the unitary executive theory (which posits that the president has the power to control the entire federal executive branch). It is also based on the premise that the next president will implement Schedule F, which allows the president to fire any federal employee who has policy-making authority, and replace them with a presidential appointee who is not voted on in the Senate.

The document is basically a wish list for social conservatives and mega corporations. The business wish list calls for eliminating federal agencies, stripping those that remain of regulatory power, and deregulating industries. The president would directly manage and influence Department of Justice and FBI cases, which would allow him to pursue criminal cases against political enemies. Environmental law would be gutted, and states would be prevented from enforcing their own environmental laws.

The social conservative wish list calls for ending abortion, diversity and inclusion efforts, protections for LGBTQ people, and most importantly, banning any and all LGBTQ content. In fact, “The Mandate for Leadership” makes eradicating LGBTQ people from public life its top priority. Its No. 1 promise is to “restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.” They are explicit in how they plan to do so, as you’ll see in the paragraph below. They plan to proceed by declaring any and all LGBTQ content to be pornographic in nature.

I recommend Biden simply take his guidance from unitary executive theory and start reshaping the federal government now. Reclassify everyone as Schedule F and fire every conservative in the federal government. Expand the Court and go after every conservative regulatory hindrance since Reagan. Declare all Christian prejudice and normative standards to be religious and remove them from all federal and state curricula, and enforce the Supremacy Clause to eliminate all contrary red state guidance.

Strike first, using the enemy's own weapons.

You don't wait for terrorists to strike, you smash in their doors and drag them out.

I'm seriously thinking of moving to Paris and starting over. I've always wanted that kind of life.

Paris is great but if the Nazis ever put someone forth that is somewhat likable Macron is dead and you will want to leave ASAP.

There's also some interesting "self destruction from within" baked into the plan. I linked it in one of the threads earlier and Slap Shop and I discussed it.

The plan also emphasizes how to wrestle government agencies away from congressional control and umbrella them in the executive branch. Schedule F also can be used to handicap agencies into folding, or, the popular route suggested, overwhelming the agencies with hand picked people to the point where the agencies just collapse under their own weight.

Tommy Tuberville seems to be subscribing to the "starve them" method, because if these agencies survive just fine without the leadership being replaced, conservatives can just name one leader to oversee all of 'em.

DGF: short term profit gain over long term environmental effects be damned.

Paris is fine to visit. I'm really, really not sure I'd want to live there. It's a great city and I've enjoyed every trip. But there's something about it I can't put my finger on, deep down I'm always somewhat relieved when I depart.

Maybe this is that feeling I get. Hard to tell.

But I agree. It always seems like it's just teetering on the edge of total breakdown and a snapback to fascism. It just seems so fucking ripe for upheaval.

Eurocons are usually less about the religious derp and more about the nationalist and racist, "What will become of our inbred culture if our children and/or grandchildren lose low-level service jobs to or (*shudder*) marry immigrants?" derp.

There is more to it obviously but there is definitely a vibe in Paris that is just off. IT doesn't help that it smells like urine almost everywhere and depending on which arrondissment you are in it could look like an affluent suburb or a burned out section of a bad part of town. (sometimes on the same street when I was in the 9th!)

Also, I am a Jew so I trust the French about as much as I trust the GOP.
