Not curious at all, given that how the U.S. approaches Israel is of enormous import to Israel's well-being and future. If they weren't heavily engaged with the U.S., it'd be a derelection of their government's duty. We'd end up like some ineffectual Euro nation who mouths support for Israel but is largely pro-Palestinian in many ways.

I understand some people place more value on oil than on things like freedom and democracy. That's their choice, but one I wouldn't advise.

This is interesting. The specific Israel/Palestinian thing... whatever. What's fascinating to me is the whole idea of a boycott app, with groups you subscribe to. The app itself appears to be completely issue-neutral -- it just lets you design whatever boycott you want and then does its data mining thing.

I downloaded the app to see what it was, and it seems decidedly slanted to the left, as far as the groups that you chose to be a part of. Sure, anyone can create a group for whatever, it seems, but the ones that are there are very liberal.

"Boycott Products in Districts Supporting the Tea Party"
"Boycott the GOP Super PACs"

Also, alot of anti-agriculture sentiment.

Going to delete this POS.

Before you remove it, do you mind trying to add a group, say, "boycott products from states beginning with the letter 'M'," just to see if it works?

Presumably the workflow would be something like:

Create new group
Enter name
Enter description
Specify criterion (from pick lists or some other way to access however they index product data)
Save group
Quit

So, I thought anyone could make a group, but I can't figure out how to do it, so maybe it isn't as simple as it seems. With some of the groups that exist, there has to be a way to do it...

I think so. Or need to go to the website instead of just the app (which I don't want to do at work). It is obvious that they let pretty much anyone create a "boycott" with the names of some of these things. There are some with outrageous names like "Honeywell, stop profiting from illegal drone killing!", "DEMAND THESE COMPANIES ADDRESS REPARATIONS FOR SLAVERY", "BOYCOTT Tamara's OC Wedding on Bravo", and "We Own You"

The slavery one might be interesting. Like WW2 profiteering, but with a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong memory (maybe Coach used to make whips).

Edit: yup, that's pretty much it.

Of course, some lying in that part of the world is just what the doctor ordered. Especially when it involves F-18s launched from the Bush. Any time we can diminish the population of head chopping savages, we're doing the world a favor.
