The Generic Racism Thread 1: Lift Every Voice and Sing

Slavery never ended.

Newberg, OR completes the hat trick.

In the last 6 weeks:

1. Bans BLM
2. Slave auction (yup)
3. Blackface

I have been to Newberg and... it's really white, and it is majority Republican.
My Dads family is from that area too (Dundee technically but it’s pretty much the same), thankfully no one lives there anymore (though plenty are buried).

It’s not only super white, it’s also super old and super religious too. Actually, I’m surprised half the people haven’t bailed to Idaho or Montana.

So, putting on blackface to illustrate than the unvaccinated are being treated like second class citizens while denying that black people continue to be treated like second class citizens?

Bold strategy, Cotton.

As you drive down from Portland that area gets really Coeur d'Alene. It's all old orchards owned by this kind of guy. Imagine Victor Davis Hanson but dumber and richer.

Oh I’ve seen it, my grandmother drove me through the whole area when I’d visit her. She didn’t much care for “those yuppies and their fancy vineyards”.

We have them in NoVa in Leesburg, too. The town that brought the world that footage of rightwing lunatics getting thrown out of commission meetings after babbling about CRT. Except they aren't yuppies, they are Olde Virginia Money. They do fox hunts. Unironically. I would not be the least surprised to see lawn jockeys out there.

Josh Mandel (Ohio) is telling the children of MLK they don't know what they're talking about and CRT teaches kids to be racists.

Not really surprised by any of that.

Aint no whitesplaining like black history whitesplaining.

Considering MLK spoke and wrote often on white moderates being his big concern...

And looking deeper into MLK's history, there is little wonder the FBI/CIA tried to convince him to die by suicide.

The guy who calls refugees alligators (or some such nonsense) whose grandparents I believe were...refugees? This seems on point.
