The Frozen Four

Re: The Frozen Four

Can't rep you, Slash, but per your rep: I know I'm wacky. ;) My Happy Meal does NOT come with a full serving of fries. :)

Re: The Frozen Four

This was one of the postgame topics de jour among several other UNO fans I spoke with after the game last night at O'Rourkes in South Bend.

If we beat Providence and North Dakota wins as well, the "Dean Blais angle" paired with "Hakstol can't seem to win the big one thing" will be THE story of the title game. A shame that would get played out somewhere it has little meaning to anyone.

The last thing Dean Blais would want is to run roughshod over Dave Hakstol. He would likely get quite assertive with the press if they push that, knowing that much of it is circumstance, if not outright luck in who won and who didn't. If UND loses the title game, however, it may remind one of the MN Vikings futility in four Super Bowls (and I am a Vikings fan).

I want to see what Providence has in their gas tank .... a lot more than I expected from this past weekend.

I recently mentioned on GPL that tDon is fast approaching (if not already there) Hakstol/D Green territory. Great season, meh post-season. Lots of one-and-dones recently.

Re: The Frozen Four

I was surprised MN was not sent to South Bend, to be honest. And I would have LOVED to see a UND-MN game in Boston (was planning a last minute trip FTR, if MN made it). For old time's sake. Best (former) rivalry, IMO. And I must remind you (and other B1G haters) that MN hockey wanted nothing to do with the B1G. I still hate the B1G Mistake. But what's done is done. :(

For the last time, not trying to troll here.

Ok, we thus smokem de peace pipe (not a THC innuendo)

Re: The Frozen Four

I'm just going to enjoy the atmosphere. Top hockey in a top hockey town. The only team I really have any rooting interest against is BU and that's not really all that strong after Jack Parker left. I'm still bitter that he broke off the yearly BU/BC v. CCT/SLU out of conference matchup because he didn't like driving to the North Country every 2 years to lose 2 games.

So when I have no rooting interest, I generally go by my opinions of the programs and the fans. PC always plays us and their fans (few as there may be) have always been nice. ND fans have been great at the FF's I've been to and I have a lot of respect for the program because they traveled east, even when they were in the incestuous WCHA. Omaha, I know very little about their fans or their program at all.

So, I'll be there in my Clarkson jersey looking for some good fans, good pubs, and great hockey.

Now, onto some analysis.

Let's call it impressions ...

Omaha is likely going to defeat Providence, whether P has all the audience or not. I would give 2 to 1 odds for it.

The UND and BU affair IMO is even odds. There are a number of factors that may have a bearing. Puck luck being #1, in my book.

My son in law school has a strong sense of UND beating BU, and he is seldom wrong.

Well sorry pops he is
ND will beat BU. Better team
BU was lucky to get by Yale, wont happen in semis

I would root for PC. I would never root for BC. Conference support only goes so far.

here is the problem. when your team is playing against, yes. But vs teams out west, arrogant blow hard programs. look at bu and bc rosters. loaded with kids from all over mass. kids from nobles, malden catholic, tabor, belmont hill, st sebs, charlestown kids, marblehead, austin prep on and on
if your team is out, how could you not pull for them vs a bunch of 28 year olds from western canada.

when i saw denver team off ice i thought it was the zak brown band and duck dynasty sharing a bus

bu v pc final would be awesome

So it looks like I need to unload my semifinal tickets only, what would most assume to be face value for these things (lower bowl)?

You better dump them for $200. each. With UND and UNO moving on to Saturday, the Final ticket will only be worth the nickel. :p

BTW... that's not my opinion, but I read it here, so it's true! ;)
