The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Correction, the record vs ranked teams count for the current weeks rankings, not the next. As you can imagine this creates quite the infinite loop of ranking teams then reranking them based on the previous rankings only to alter them because of the present rankings thus giving us the future rankings which are reranked due to the changes from the previous rankings which leaves us with the present rankings. Got that? Hence the need for this...

 Too much...the possibilities make me dizzy...

Processes like that don't always converge.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

...though I guess the fact that it's not a mobius strip would make it all the more appropriate when talking about the NCAA....
FOOLS!!

No mere mortal can understand the two dimensional representation of the n-dimensional space that occupies the D-III cubicle at the NCAA headquarters.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Upon further examination, that shape has two distinct sides - it is not a mobius strip at all.

Unless my eyes deceive me, that is.

You are correct, it looks like the logo puts a double twist into it which gives it two sides and two edges. At least the didn't try to represent the Klein bottle.

Please don't give the NCAA any ideas...

I have been thinking that for a day or two, but was too bashful to post the idea that "the emperor has no clothes."

I agree that it is not a Mobius strip.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

It totally isn't, and I was going to point it out as well, but then I remembered I'm pretty sure I posted the dumb thing in the first place. Oh well, here's a real one that's more at my grade level:

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Here are my picks: here are my picks:
Automatic bids:
ECAC East: Castleton
ECAC Northeast, Curry
NESCAC, Middlebury
SUNYAC, Oswego
MCHA, Adrian
MIAC Hamlin
NCHA St. Norbert
Pool B Utica

The ECAC West finished the season with a nonconference record of 46–10–9. There is no way that two teams don't make it in. I am going with Elmira as the other ECACW team.

There is only one team that gets in from MIAC, NCHA, NESCAC, ECACNE, MCHA
No team gets in from MASCAC

Assumptions: If Hamline/Oswego/Castleton/St. Norbert/Utica lose there conference, they are still in.
Since it is almost a certainly one of the above teams will loose, they will get one of the auto-bids.

The third auto-bid will go to Norwich/Geneseo/Plattsburgh. If Plattsburgh goes to the SUNYAC conference championship they are in. If Norwich wins out and goes to the championship game they are in. Neither of these are true if Geneseo beats Oswego next weekend.

I don't see any way Norwich gets in over Plattsburgh short of Plattsburgh losing two or three more games before the end of the season. Head-to-head will mean something in this case since there were two games between them....

My prediction...If Hamline, Castleton, Oswego, St. Norbert lose their conference auto-bid, then only three of them will have a chance to be in :D

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Before we all go spouting off, it would do well to read Posts #1 and #2 of this thread. After you have read them, then go to the main D-III page and open the links to the PWC. That is THE ONLY BASIS USED FOR SELECTION!!!!!

Not your conference's record vs. out of conference foes.
Not the color of the uniforms
Not the number of Prez's Puck Bunnies in the stands
and certainly not the quality of the pretzels offered by the rink concessions.

For example - here is the current PWC between Norwich and Plattsburgh:
Code:
Norwich vs Plattsburgh
WIN 0.6579 0 0.6905 1
SOS 0.5328 0 0.5351 0
H2H 0- 2- 0 0 2- 0- 0 1
COP 2- 0- 1 0 2- 0- 0 1
RNK 0- 0- 0 0 0- 0- 0 0
============================================
PTS 0 3

Not even close. And I think it should be 5-0 Plattsburgh as they should get 2 for the H2H and 1 for SoS.

You don't get an extra comparison point if you beat somebody twice, but they could get one for RNK (but who knows who will be ranked once the iterating of ranked teams begins.)
