The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Can we take that as a sign of respect then for the BullDogs? Looking forward to a re-match with the Green Knights.

How can you not have the utmost respect for a team that is winless in it's lifetime vs. the NCHA?

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned. So Concordia will face Hamline next weekend in the MIAC championship with the auto bid on the line after defeating St. Thomas in the semis last weekend. Concordia has been much improved all season and has played the entire league very tough. If they were to win next weekend, they would be a feisty rep for the league in the NCAA's.

Concordia is 520 miles from SNC, and probably 1,000+ away from Adrian.

Now what?

The Cobbers would obviously play North Dakota in a Monday double-secret play-in.

The smoke will clear and find room for Hamline with a Pool C bid. Not that the data supports it, but a conspiracy theory would support that possibility. It would be a real streeeeeeeeeeeetch.

Play the Concordia / Adrian game in Mauston, WI: Mauston is only 430 miles from Concordia and 439 miles from Adrian!

Is there a provision for neutral ice in the first two rounds?

I don't believe there is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were something the committee could get approved on the fly, if they could work it out with the appropriate parties (NCAA, The Teams, and the Neutral rink). However, in terms of $$, I'd guess it wouldn't even be considered. Cheaper to fly Concordia to Adrian, or vice-versa, than it would be to secure ice time at the neutral site and transport both teams to a game that would be attended by about 35 people.

Stevens Point is also within 500 miles of each.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

There's another. In 2007-08 Manhattanville beat Elmira in the ECACW title game but Elmira received the pool B bid.

Correction: I flipped this around. Manhattanville received the pool B after beating Elmira in the ECACW title game, despite Elmira handling Mville in a direct comparison. To this day this has still never been properly corrected in any announcement or release I've come across.

SNC and Concordia get byes and Adrian gets shipped to Elmira.:)
