Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

IF, big IF here, Bowdoin wins I think you could even see this...

1E - Oswego
2E - Norwich
3E - Plattsburgh
4E - Bowdoin
5E - Middlebury
6E - Elmira
7E - Curry
8E - Manhatanville

1W - SNC
2W- St.Thomas
3W - Adrian

PlayIns
Manhatanville @ Bowdoin
Curry @ Middlebury
Adrian @ Elmira

QuaterFinals
Adrian/Elmira @ Oswego
Curry/Middlebury @ Norwich
Manhantanville/Bowdoin @ Plattsburgh
St.Thomas @ SNC

I'm not saying it's perfect, but I wouldn't be surprised at all by this scenerio.

You could also give Gustavus the nod over Mville, have a GA/UST play-in and move Bowdoin straight to the QF and the same idea holds.

I think the Gusties will be in.

I wouldn't be surprised by this scenario, but think the seeding would more likely be:

6E - Manhattanville
7E - Elmira
8E - Curry

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I wish Elmira would be playing at Midd.

Elmira or Gustavus? I think that's the final piece. If it's Elmira and 8-3, then that opens the Adrian to the East door. But I just can't see that happening vs. Gustavus. And I can't see the ECAC West champ getting left home. It would be unprecedented, dating all the way back to 1984. Those who were around in 1994 can ask Williams about it - they were highly ranked but got left home due to RIT unexpectedly winning the ECAC West. Back then the NESCAC could only play in one postseason tournament, so teams had to declare for either the NESCAC playoffs or sit and wait for an NCAA bid. Williams got left home, even though by all criteria, they were the higher choice.

And, more recently, Neumann last year. That was a close call.

Chris L. and I are on the same page. I know the Eastern folks can not believe it, but I think it will be true. We are going to see two Western teams to the Fronzen Four. It is really too bad that the Western teams could not be on the oppostite side of the the bracket in meet in the final. That way, we may see the TRUE two best teams play in the title game.

Go West!

For sure, and I agree about GAC.

...and Bruce Delventhal breaks the sacred wax seal affixed over his speakerphone button. Let's get this show on the road.

Which will happen first? The Oscar for best picture or the NCAA announcement?

Did someone clone St. Norbert in the time since the NCHA final? Because they are the only western team that could possibly be considered one of the two best teams in the country.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

So the east will have 7 teams going after two slots:confused: and the west will have four going after two. Somehow that does not add up.

And even SNC went 0-1 against a mid-tier Eastern team..and got shut out...

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

At this point I'd like to state for the record that the Adrian contingent is happily content and anxiously awaiting the committee's decisions. :p

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

For everyone wondering..

In '06, it was past 11:00 before we had the brackets.
I went back to last year's thread and we had the teams at 7:30 and the bracket at 8:30.

All times eastern.

So that's your range to plan on. I think '07 went past 10 eastern, which is why it's the most visited time on the history of the forums.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Also worth pointing out, every year some "consensus" develops on teams/structure on selection Sunday and every year it's a load of bunk. You're probably better off getting creative today if you want to nail a projection.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

In related news, the Plattsburgh women drop the ECAC-West title to Elmira at home. While they're a mortal lock for an at-large bid, This Weekend in Cardinal Athletics now consists of:

- Men's Hockey getting thumped en route to a conference finals loss
- Women's Hockey getting upset at home for another conference finals loss
- Men's Basketball bowing out in the first round of the NCAA tourney after being picked as a host site

A little potential insight into the current mood of the Eastern Chair, in any case :)
