The D-III National Championship - St. Norbert vs. Norwich

Re: The D-III National Championship - St. Norbert vs. Norwich

Certainly was nice to step out of the hotel this morning and see the Cadet Logo bus still parked in the lot :) and not see the Cardinal Logo bus parked across the steet:D .
Would be nice to see the Cadets finish thier great season with a win against the team they lost 3-0 two years ago in the NCAA semi-final game. Go get boys and Kinger may you have the game of your life. :)

Re: The D-III National Championship - St. Norbert vs. Norwich

I watched half of the OSU/SNC and half of the Plattsburgh/Norwich game at fasthockey yesterday, and my impression was that either Plattsburgh or Norwich would have handily beaten Oswego or SNC yesterday. Thoughts? I didn't think Oswego could be as ineffective as they were yesterday, especially after the Bowdoin game.

Anyway, today is a brand new day of hockey. True to form, I'll probably only get to watch half of today's game, but it should be a good one.

Depends on which half of the game you watched. Seriously, I think Oswego's dominance of Bowdoin may have worked against them--giving them a false sense of security that the rest of the games would be a cake walk. SNC made no such assumptions and came to play a hockey game:)

It is a new day. Norwich should plan on aggressive forechecking and some added wrinkles in the SNC game plan to throw the Cadets off balance. Not sure that will be so easy--with all the tools they have in their kid. Both teams are superbly conditions and it may come down to who has the strongest and most consistent third period. Yesterday, I predicted that the winner of the NU/Platty game would be determined in the 3rd period. Same may happen today as both teams are primed and ready for fireworks.

Delighted to meet all the fans from all the schools--all great pride without any anger. Nice to see that both on and off the ice. 2 hours and 50 minutes to game time--now make it happen Cadets :)

I don't care much for that Cardinal bus either...:D

Walking around the lake this morning, this Laker fan came across the Cadets on a post breakfast walkabout - loose, smiling, very polite and appreciative of an old man's congratulations and encouraging words...;)

Oh, to be young - and in the FINALS!:D :D :D

Well this should be a GREAT game we can all agree if the refs let them play it will be a good game but if SNC get pp time then they will run that high pick on the blueline they will get alot of goals!

Being Norwich just beat "my" team and I saw how 3 of the SN goals were scored (dead giveaways by Oswego) it makes this statement a fact for Norwich!
The "dead giveaways" you speak of did have something to do with pressuring the puck and picking them clean when they got the chance. It wasn't as if a defender just centered the puck in front of their own net.

I like SNC's chances today. Just like yesterday, they just need to go out and play hard while having some fun. The rest will take care of itself.

What is it going to be:

SNC: Sorry No-more Championships or Second-time National Champions.

Re: The D-III National Championship - St. Norbert vs. Norwich

Getting away from the nonsense in the SNC-OSU thread:

I don't know what to really expect here and could easily see it going either way. That said, I've had a gut feeling all week that SNC is going to win the whole thing though I haven't really been able pinpoint why. And that sort of feeling is not something I usually get. I'll admit I didn't expect SNC to take it in '08, so who knows.

Final take: It's a pick 'em.

First off, I am a SNC fan and have watched a significant number of games in the past 5 years.
Oswego did commit 2 bad turnovers. Not what you would excpect from a team of their calibre. SNC did convert the 2 turn overs.
Oswego had very poor zone coverage on Tikka's goal.
Mistakes happen in hockey. Oswego made to many and SNC did not.
That is why SNC won.
Today's game will be close but I think SNC has the focus to win today.

GO SNC

Cardinal, ugh, rule of D, dont b the last one out of the zone with the puck, if so that 2nd d-man had better b on his way bak b4 the turnover happens......as my H.S. coach used to tell us " better you died as a child than made that pass/mistake",,,,,,HARSH yes but unforgettable .....several bad mistakes, and you CANNOT make them against a team like SNC.......I am still sick today....Go CADETS!!!!!!!!

Re: The D-III National Championship - St. Norbert vs. Norwich

These types of basketball games always have the last minute dragged out to take up half an hour too....

FYI -- Anyone who is trying to dial into the SNC radio webcast...try refreshing the link. I've been told it should then work.
