The Completely Unofficial Pre-Pre-Season Polls - 2012-2013 Edition

Re: The Completely Unofficial Pre-Pre-Season Polls - 2012-2013 Edition

If my memory serves me correctly the USCHO Pre Season poll has put the previous Champion #1 in the poll 10 out of the last 15 seasons....

Re: The Completely Unofficial Pre-Pre-Season Polls - 2012-2013 Edition

No. SNC is #1 until further notice.

I was never a big believer in carry-over rankings. As impressive as St. Norbert was in Lake Placid, for most of the season they were trailing a few teams in the polls. In otherwords, I don't think they played quite that good during the course of the season. Norwich and perhaps Oswego were probaby a better team at certain parts of the season. So no automatic #1's for me....it's a "what have you done for me lately" world.

...but they're certainly worthy of consideration.

But when the game is to figure out what the poll will say, not to actually evaluate the teams, your mileage will vary :D

Honestly i watched all three games in placid and i thought Amherst looked like the best team in placid

Amherst was a very unique team. Tremendous system with a few high-enders and a brick house in net. Plattsburgh could not get the puck out of their own zone for long stretches in their quarterfinal game at Amherst and I thought they might give the big boys some trouble in LP. That said, I think they were hit very hard by graduation. Who will be this year's Amherst??

Hard work, a few good players, and an outstanding goaltender that is the formula to do well in the NCAA's.

sounds like a god formula in any league:D...a hot goalie can carry you a loooong way, ryan Scott in 2007 for the Lakers was on fire from what I remember.......

You sure did.

Just curious but how would you rate Oswego, Plattsburgh, Norwich, and Castelton for the polls. In any event it won't be long before we start seeing the teams in action. The St. Thomas selection at number 5 is based mostly on the quality of recruits coming into the program.

Just curious, when do you plan on paying off the bet, you know the steak.

+1

PS - I'd say Hawk should be burned at the stake for welching, but that would be an insult to La Pucelle d'Orléans.

There were others, you know. Heresy seemed to be the quickest method of getting roasted.

Would Heresy = not picking Norwich for #1 in the ECAC-East?

Norwich is giving away free hot dogs down at the Big Green arena in a couple of weeks. Question I would like to ask is how does the team look in the pre-season and what is the story on the new recruits? There hasn't been much, if any, discussion on the men's hockey program during the fall. Maybe that is the way it is going to be this year.

Considering there hasn't been a single official practice session (and won't be until 10/15) what are you expecting? This is nothing that is any different from the way Norwich always does this. Actually, because of the demise of the Interlock, we will hear about things earlier than we used to. Football, soccer, cross country, and women's v-ball are still in season, and the SID staff is kind of busy giving those sports their due attention.

There has been plenty of talk, you just have been blocked for welching.

Charlie

My sister wants to know why Parents Weekend is on Columbus Day weekend? Pretty tough to get hotels that weekend with all the leaf peepers around.
