The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Not even close. The dollar figures in that "huge Miami scandal" were a joke compared to what CHL players get.

Miami is an ACC school.

SEC schools offer $180,000 (or more) to the kid's dad....and get away with it.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

The announcers for the hockey regionals per ESPN

East Regional at Bridgeport, Conn.: John Buccigross and Barry Melrose.
Northeast Regional at Worcester, Mass.: Dan Parkhurst and Billy Jaffe.
Midwest Regional at Green Bay, Wisc.: Ben Holden and Sean Ritchlin.
West Regional at St. Paul, Minn.: Clay Matvick and Dave Starman.

Also, all three games of the Frozen Four will be aired on ESPN2.
Edit: Frozen Four games are Gary Thorne, Barry Melrose, and Clay Matvick.

They must have changed that. The site says that the first frozen four game is on ESPNU/ESPN3. Not ESPN2.

The West Regional Saturday live games are only available on ESPN3. I guess the one benefit of that is that they won't be overlapped with Lacrosse.

Following in the footsteps of Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin, ESPN is just beating the crap out of the Peyton Manning story. Wonder what story they'll try to turn into the next Watergate after Manning finally signs somewhere.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

I'll put $5 on Blake Griffen dunking over some guy.

I'm kidding of course. They already have an entire show dedicated to creaming their jeans over stuff like that. It's called <strike>Dunkface</strike>SportsNation. Seriously, what the hell is "dunkface" and why should I give a crap about it when it happens numerous times in every NBA game?

To which team Tim Tebow will go.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

The first 5 minutes of the NCAA hockey selection show yesterday were fantastic. First they had technical difficulties trying to talk to a UMD player on the phone, then one of the guys mentions Brett Hull and referes to his playing days at North Dakota.

Sometimes I truly believe they do this **** on purpose just to try and kill hockey completely since they don't carry it anymore. Basturds.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Unless you're a sidewalk fan of a Big Ten school who only wants to play "football schools" he's heard of in non-conference play, I have no idea why anyone would want the SEC around in hockey.

The only possible upside is for the rest of us to sit back while the SEC's "recruiting practices" go head to head with Canadian Juniors and to listen to the howls and screams from our friends to the north. The SEC would pay more and the women are more attractive.
Not to mention they can get in some golf as well. SEC hockey at least gets some attention from the Network, who loves to slob on that SEC knob. and would likely float a lot of boats with college hockey.

Yeah...no

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

You can tell that the advertisers were crawling iver themselves on this high audience rated program (the BC/UMD game). I think they're showing the "Game Fly" ad and the "But wait!! call right now" grout cleaning product at every break. Must be they think that the audience consists bored housewives and gameheads watching from the bored housewives' basements.

Some numbskull at the gym decided to put Mike and Mike on in the locker room TV (#firstworldmiddleclassproblems). I've loved the fact that I no longer live in a media market where you can find those two on the radio, but I was reminded of how extra horrible they are the Monday after Tiger Woods wins an event.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Despite all the "suck" of ESPN, I am glad that they stream a lot of stuff on ESPN3 (or whatever they're calling it now) for FREE! Do they realize they're doing this for FREE? Is someone making them do this for FREE? How long will this last: ESPN3 for FREE?
