A new WCHA will be set up next season. It will depend upon what games are played the earliest. The current one will go to a WCHA school whenever UW loses to one.

Has there been a time when the belt has not been up for grabs during the NCAA tournament?

all 11 teams will make the HE tournament next year...

top 5 get a bye, bottom six play a 3 game set, leaving 8 teams for the second round (which will also be 3 game series)

Oh. That's no fun. So, since everyone makes the tournament, THE BELT will always be decided during the championship game.
