After living in nyc I never thought people were as rude as I’d heard.

however, it did make me more rude. I remember going to work one day in Hartford- took the train. From train station I took a taxi to the building and the cab driver refused to break my $50 bill and I nearly called him a c u next Tuesday. I stopped myself and realized I didn’t like who I was becoming

once saw a cabbie kick a woman out in the village while screaming the c word at her, guess it rubbed off

Rudest by far is anywhere in California. The average New Yorker has nothing on a Livermore a55hole driving a late model Beamer skidding to a stop 6 inches from your kneecaps, then rolling down his window to lecture you about paying attention to traffic when you had the 'Walk' sign and the right of way.

The rudest people in the world are the very rich and the very poor.

The only polite people are the middle class.

Most scared I’ve ever been as a pedestrian is the French Riviera.

Ever been to Rome?

I thought I'd seen the worst drivers, both for rudeness and incompetence, in Boston, but Rome is another order of magnitude of driver insanity and stupidity.

I am told Cairo is likewise a further level from Rome.

Do they pinch your butt while driving?

Like I’d get in a car driven by an Italian

my first time in Italy I was 21, arrived in Milan en route to Barcelona. Stepped outside the station and multiple cars stopping and harrassing. The male friend I was with was horrified

Venice much better, nothing but tourists who don’t care about you

Driving in Manila is bad, but it's mostly harmless in that they're not trying to hurt you they just have no patience and 90% of them never took an on the road driving test. As they increase the presence of overpasses and the elevated train system it will get better.

Bangkok in 96 was a nightmare, but thanks to a subway, their own light rail and traffic cameras there's quite a bit more order.

Manama and Dubai had the highest number of speed freaks I've ever encountered by a factor of 10. Every stoplight presented an opportunity for a drag race.

The catcalls were for you. The f-bombs were for the Gopher gear you were wearing. Even the Italians understand that.

The Troubles were actually about disgust with BC.

I get city living is more "compact", but I still can't get over NYC Apartments.

These ones, despite their quirkyness, do seem nice for what they are. And of course a country bumpkin like me has sticker shock from the rent prices. But I guess that's how you make it in NYC **shrug**
