The Barr Has Been Raised at UMaine

They looked awesome tonight, no lapses in effort, consistent offense. They capitalized on chances and wore Air Force down. Maine looked like the more fit team and at altitude that’s impressive.

They rolled 4 lines all game, it was hard to tell who the best line was. Breen is the man, he has the potential to be a star.

It will take an incredible effort tomorrow against Denver to win so no expectations there but it’ll be a good measuring stick to show them how they stack up against the best.

Didn't watch, but just from scanning the box score looks like a very good and complete win. Only allowed 21 shots, and that's with giving 4 PP opportunities, took 32 of their own, won at the dot, scored a shorty. Shooting load was evenly spread out, almost everyone had at least one shot. Great foundation for the year in a game they really needed to win, given many of their next opponents outside of Bentley.

Breen is so good. His first goal could not have come at a better time.

Didnt see the game but Breen was impressive last year on a bad team, He could move the puck against anyone and he hustled and played hard everytime he was out. Never got tired.

Good road win last night. For a team that's struggled away from Alfond as much as they have in recent years gotta be happy about that (even if AF isn't a top flight opponent).

Don't think any of us are expecting this team to go into Magness and leave with a win tonight.

But I think we all do want to see the conditioning focus this offseason pay off and have the team push Denver for a full 60 minutes tonight.

This is arguably the game I wanted to watch the most this year, but unfortunately I have to work through it all. Hopefully those of you that do watch can give updates and insight as to how they look against the defending champions and #1 ranked team in the nation, on their own ice.

Tonight's lineup:

Poisson-Breen-Mancinelli
Fawcett-Renwick-Houle
Freel-Keicker Olson- Pabich
Michaelian-Hebert-Hanson

Sirota-Antonacci
Breazeale-Arnott
Holt-Bruneski
Duerr

Mucitelli
Ostman
Androlewicz

Scratches:

Henbrandt, Charbier, Carney, Trudeau, Lindauer, Kincaid

Same lineup a go tonight against DU, only difference is Ostman gets the start in goal rather than Mucitelli.

Maine trying to clog up the neutral zone as much as they can but the skill differential between these two teams is very evident. 3-0 Denver after the 1st.

Not the start we wanted. Wheels came off at the end of that period, beginning looked pretty good. Skill differential is evident, Denver pounces on chances and doesn’t miss.

Much different pace from Maine in the 2nd. Probably should have come out with this gameplan to begin the game instead of the passive approach. Still 3-0 Denver after 2nd.

Felt like they came out and didn’t think they could skate with them. The second period was more representative last night and they pushed the pace and the defensemen weren’t afraid to pinch in.

Hoping they can make it a game in the 3rd. They’re playing hard, can’t be mad about the effort. Gotta clean up all the penalties, especially the leaders on the team.

Maine gets a redirect past Davis. Breazeale shot might have gotten tipped by Houle in front. 3-1 now but just 39.3 left in the game to work with.

I guess ESPN Plus will carry all Hockey East games so everyone will be able to watch Maine games for 9.95 a month? Not sure if they will still be free when at home or not? Most likely not.

Yeah hockey east and ECAC are all through espn+ now. This weekend’s game against Bentley is the last game not on espn+. Since the rest of our schedule are home games or against the ECAC, you’ll be able to get them all for that price.

The app is pretty good through Roku and smart tvs, you can watch replays of all games as well for that cost.

Not directly related to hockey but UMaine athletics has received a pledge of $10 million toward the new hoops facility & naming rights. New Balance maybe? The only individual with Maine ties I can see forking over $10 million is Stephen King.....yeah, it's probably New Balance.
