Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

Maine's only score is by a "pure defenseman" coming out of the penalty box. His only goal of the year. With Maine's #1 PP in the country and near the top in goal production in HE and that's the only goal ?? Amazing. Only team to lose with home ice last night.:( Maine could lose their 5th straight game at home tonight. No, they'll find a way to win.;)

I thought the key to victory last night was to get a goal(s) from unexpected sources, Maine got that and still lost. This isn't the same team that led HE in goal production or had the #1 PP. It should be quite obvious now

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

He didn't play beyond my expectations. I wasn't worried about Goaltending, I was worried about offense. I'm worried about it again tonight. Hopefully Anderson takes Leidermarks place. I'd like to see Abbott off the PP especially at the point. He must be the new Keenan Hopson

Funny, because the offense was the only thing I wasn't worried about. Shows how much I know. And stop mentioning that former player. It sends an icy chill down my spine. ;)

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

Ended up going to the game at the last minute yesterday night and I really wish I hadn't. If someone had told me that Wilson was only going to give up two goals I would have expected Maine to win pretty easily. Too bad Timid Whitehead didn't have them ready to play.

Hutton looked comfortable all night, even after he gave up that early first goal. Maine never drove the net and just played dump and retreat all night on offense. It was unbelievably pathetic.

Wally do you want me to stop at Walmart on the way up and pick up an offense? I think they're 50% off this weekend. :D

I liked Keenan, its not his fault his coach played him the way he did

it was not all that long ago (but long enough for Tim to forget) that Flynn scored 5 goals by being right out front.
yesterday, Tim announces in the paper that he has to keep the puck away from Hutton and dump it into the corners and outman Lowell on the puck.

how long until he realizes that he can have 100 players on the puck in the corner and Maine will still not score from there. The offense HAS to be out front or setting up on the weak side. Maine can still outnumber Lowell in the corner because Lowell is going to have to put someone out front to cover Flynn, but at least Flynn has a chance of scoring from there. (and I cannot, for the life of me, remember who he scored 5 against a few weeks ago)

which other coach in the history of hockey has ever announced that he had to keep the puck away from the opposing goaltender?

Tim really set the poor kid up to look bad, and I agree it was not Keenan's fault. I almost expected Tim to suit him up in goalie pads.

Very frusterating game to watch. Willie played very well. Seemed that both UML goals were tipped in. Hopefully he can bring it again tonight, although it doesn't appear it will matter. Nothing generated offensively at all. Couldn't keep the puck in the zone long enough for multiple shots. One and done all night. Dump the puck in, Lowell clears out, rinse and repeat. Not going to the net at all. Plenty of times that all three forwards were behind the net, even when Maine had possession. Go to the front of the phkn net please!! Back in my hayday, I loved being in front, banging with the d and pizzin off the goalie. Its rarely seen.

Nyquist definitely isn't himself and outside of Mangene and Shemansky, I was extremely disapointed. Maybe tonight will be different. Not banking on it though. Been doing laps in the toilet for weeks now. When is opening weekend next season?:(

Make Hutton actually have to make a save instead of just dumping it in all night. 19 S.O.G is pathetic and should never happen. Too bad Tim wouldn't announce in the paper that he is handing in his resignation papers. It should be all over tonight. Maine can get their golf clubs out.

No wonder it’s 50% off it’s made in China and also it’s on end of the season clearance.

It was nice to see Lem Randall at the rink last night sporting Iroquois dew.

Peter Metcalf was also in attendance, a shame he doesn’t have an eligibility left.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

Other than Wilson what a garbage performance tonight. Hopefully the game plan is to actually play hockey tomorrow night instead of the dump and watch that was played tonight with everyone on the ice scared ****less that they might make a mistake.

That's Timid Tim hockey for ya.

If all yolu had was a snapshot from tonights game, willie is the only guy who could play for Lowell, everyone else might as well have stayed home. No heart, no emotion, no skill, no guts, no nothin'

TIMMAY's worked his magic again, got everyone so afraid of the consequences of what they might do, that they don't do anything.

Isn't that how Shemansky got most, if not all of his 9 goals? Tim set him straight back in December, though, and put Flynn back in line recently. Can't have anyone straying away from the system, eh?;)

Come on, Maine. We could have BC vs. BU and UNH vs. Maine next weekend on the same night. Wake the hell up.

Shemansky scored ONE goal by actually shooting the puck, the rest were beautiful tip ins (if I recall correctly, and if I am wrong, he was about 6 for 8 on tip ins) the "shot' was from behind the goal line, off the goalie and in.

and the bizzare thing is that Hamilton is the one who controls rebounds and puts them in corners, while Hutton is the "garunteed first shot stop" guy, in other words, Hutton does not control rebounds as well as Hamilton.

pity Tim does not get the scouting reports

(also, getting under the skin of Holmstrom WILL set him off and he WILL do something to get sent to the box... Joey Diamond COULD be instrumental in getting Holmstrom off his game.)

No can't have anyone actually put the puck in the net.

Not a bad idea.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

The quarter-final series is coming down to an exciting 3rd game. David Wilson was outstanding tonight. I've almost forgotten about Darling. ;) Does the team have time enough to straighten out the 5 on 3 situation before tomorrow night? At least they broke the ice tonight after 9 attempts in 2 games on the PP. Nice to have the audio working tonight on the replays. A River Hawk goal was disallowed because of it. That was a very quick whistle.

evidently, he just moved to portland. according to a friend of mine, with either a kid, or one on the way (i don't remember which), he's giving up the dream and focusing on life after hockey... supposedly he has jumped on a men's league team in portland...
