Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

The University didn't actually say anything. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all this is coming from A) Rumors in the stands Saturday night and B) a Bangor TV station quoting an anonomous source.

So if KIA said it in a way that didn't drag up Sill and Czuba again and didn't delete, he might've had a point. There's been no on the record confirmation from the hockey program, UM athletics or University Relations that this is related to alcohol.
Goon posted this in the Maine Lowell thread
http://www.pressherald.com/blogs/lenzi/87165697.html
Scott Darling, a sophomore goalie at Maine, has released a statement regarding his recent suspension from the men's hockey team:

"I'll be away from the team for a while as I deal with personal issues. I understand the reasons for my suspension and accept responsibility for my actions."

"I apologize to my teammates, coaches and our fans and I will work hard to return to the program when Coach Whitehead decides it is appropriate. I am thankful for the support I have received, and I am determined to learn from this situation and return ready to contribute in a significant way."

***

Joe Carr, the director of university relations at Maine, said that Darling remains suspended indefinitely from the hockey team for a violation of team rules.

KIA is a mute piont.

The University will never come out and say it. I didn't get it from rumors in the stand or the tv station.

I know that it probably isn't going to happen........but how ironic would it be if TIMMAY's swan song as the Maine head coach is a couple of losses to Lowell?! :p :p :p

It would almost be poetic.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

I really hope he works out his personal issues. I really do but he had personal issues last season and now more personal issues this season. Perhaps college life isn't the place to work them out.

Good point.

Whatever those "issues" may be......we know that TIMMAY will be supportive! He always puts others ahead of himself.

which part probably won't happen? losing the series to lowell or whitehead being gone

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

It shouldn't, Detroit lacks offense, Maine lacks a goalie for next year, I think he might be gone this summer
So are you saying Maine is gonna trade Gustav Nyquist for Jimmy Howard? ;) :D

Kidding aside, I hope Darling can get things straightened out and his life back in order.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

Nyquist has said on numerous occasions he wants to return to Maine. He values an education and likes being at Maine. The question is, will the Redwings put pressure on him to leave?

Maine has no verbal commitment from a goal tender for next year. My guess would be that the coaching staff is looking very hard to find one for next year.

Great, gives me that warm fuzzy feeling:p

Congratulations to David de Kastrozza for receiving the Griffin Memorial Unsung Hero Award from Friends of Maine Hockey. An excellent choice in my opinion. He was injured much of last year and under went surgery. I wished he had another year of eligibility.

The good thing about the Red Wings is the minimal age to join the team is 25...Sidney Crosby would be still in the minors right now if the Red Wings won the draft lottery.

All joking aside, the Red Wings don't usually rush their prospects along. A lot of their college prospects are in school for three years.

This to me is a case of total mismanagement by TIMMAY. He seems to be a one goaltender kind of coach, and when something happens to that goaltender.....well.

In our case right now, we have three. But TIMMAY has only invested in the one who is suspended.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

"Maine athletic director Blake James told the TV station that Darling’s suspension was not for a violation of the department’s student-athlete code of conduct."

Unless drinking is allowed by student athletes, it looks like some pretty language. A lie is a lie. It doesn't matter if it's white, dressed up or pretty.

You are mistaken on what Priceless meant by his post. Priceless was asking KIA if Joe lied in his press release regarding Sill and Czuba at that time. It does not refer to the current situation with Darling.

The student/athlete code does allow an of age individual to drink. Team rules however prohibit such activity during the season.

Knowitall you are an delusional little person, you post mindless drivel and then delete, post mindless drivel and then delete. I don't spread rep fast enough to respond so I will do it here. I happen to know very well what is going on and do not have to post how or where I get this information, and I certainly don't have to give specific instances. If you do not like it, tough chit, get over it. Your fascination with the Sill/Czuba time and issue is baffling, not sure what your issue is, but please try to get some professional help for it.

and depending on how things go...

"Whitehead said if the Bears win this weekend’s series, Darling’s status will be re-evaluated next week."

When your goalies are 1-9 on the season and the team has fallen apart in the last few weeks, I'm not holding my breath:p

nor am i... for maine to win, they're going to need to score 4+ goals per night... hutton and and hamilton both have sub-3.00 GAAs and 90+% save percentages (with hutton leading both categories with 2.06 and 92.8%)

not looking good...
