The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

If hunters want to shoot where hunters are...feel free. Enter Darwin. On the other hand, most camping families don't want hunters shooting near their kids. I wouldn't expect those who get their thrills from shooting guns to understand this.
Again, one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.

Actually they do. Experienced hunters are probably the safest people in the world. The "buck fever" shooters are dangerous.

Now, on a different tack, I doubt even most of the 1% could afford this little chateau about an hour's drive from our Nation's Capital. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...0f4-11e2-a389-ee565c81c565_blog.html?hpid=z15

Why, why, why does anyone build a 22,000 square foot house?

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

What makes me angry is trying to paint anything that was done to Native Americans like it's in anyway comparable to what the poor gun owners of today are going through just because they may not be able to purchase a certain type of weapon. But I'll definitely be on your side when you start getting forcibly relocated across country on foot.

the Native American comparison is by far one of the dumbest things ever said. There is actually no way to convey how stupid it is
Wow! That little essay really zapped a nerve among our self-proclaimed "chosen ones"/"elite progressives". Again, I don't see anything to dispute there... it's laying out some history about how gun confiscation often precedes genocide much like the history you read about Stalin, Hitler, etc. Of course it's not comparing the current "plight" of gun owners to that of the Indians who were victims of genocide (talk about stupid! ol' Foxie really sets the bar on that one!). It's providing a little food for thought about what purposes the government might have in calling it's own citizens "evil", "stupid" and "crazy" as excuses to try to get all the guns into a few hands. It's time for our self-proclaimed "chosen ones" to step back and think about the bigger picture before following along like bleating sheep behind this "iron fist" administration wherever it decides to lead. Think for yourselves!

It was obviously your fault for expecting that level of critical thinking and reading comprehension from those people.

They may be crazy, but it might be safe for us to assume that they're not stupid. Perhaps they have connections with the "iron fist".

I haven't seen much evidence of intelligence, so I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt yet.

Because evoking Hitler is always a calm, rational response.

Because evoking Hitler is always a calm, rational response to someone you disagree with politically.

Because dismissing actual history, not fiction based upon true stories, is always a way to ensure history does not repeat itself.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

but the whole faux outrage over whether the poster correctly applied the situation to Native Americans sure changed the subject from the original link...1 point extra for the "thank god you mentioned Hitler, now I can refuse to address anything other than your attempt to relate this to Hitler". (cause that is exactly what the other guy was trying to do...relate it directly to Hitler 1:1)

At this stage of board evolution, all people do is attack the analogy, any analogy, not the point.

It is a great defense mechanism... "the XX analogy doesn't apply here at all, so I'm not even going to respond". Doesn't matter if it does apply perfectly or they misinterpreted the use...because next you get the "La, La La, I'm not listening, you said Hitler, La, La La" response.

Same reason a dog licks his balls.

Aw now I've got to clean the coffee off of my monitor! :D

Of course, the WaPo is afraid "that there might be a few peevish comments from some of our gentle readers upset with us for showcasing homes that are affordable only to the 1 percenters."

Talk about CYA

Don't tell me you're one of these people who think Adolph Hitler was actually Kermit Roosevelt!!:D
Seriously though, on the subject of banned history subjects, I don't see why liberals feel it's OK to discuss Stalin or Pol Pot, but Hitler is strictly off-limits (and Wounded Knee appears to be headed for that shelf as well). Does anyone have an actual reason? I honestly don't know, maybe has something to do with antisemitism?
