The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Chamber armour piercing rounds. Oh, right, the dumbass in chief wants to outlaw those, so the people who responsibly carry have less of a chance of taking down a shooter with body armour.

Yet, last year, many government agencies, including the postal service, were supplied with these. Add it all up; I think we're going to see martial law very soon.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

I really don't like the idea of a law with so much impact on such a complicated matter being tossed out there quickly to appease the mob.

Yeah, I know they go through a process etc. but starting with a rapid reaction will only slow down the process as the nitpickers have a field day with the weaknesses of the proposal. Not advocating gridlock or sitting around, but I'd pull the heads of the two parties together, threaten them with bodily harm and tell them to come back in 30 days with a bipartisan proposal that they guarantee their parties will both support.

If they refuse or can't do it I'd make it clear they will be publicly blamed, as individuals and forced to watch Honey Boo Boo for the next 40 years in Federal prison...which probably wouldn't scare them at all and no bill would ever be introduced...but I'd rather attempt that than the partisan approach from square one.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

In the new town case, even a trained officer would have trouble taking down the shooter as they had the kevlar vest on, so the areas of the body that were vulnerable were quite small, any joe doaks could not have done the job, so in this case putting weapons in the hands of the school staff was not a solution.

Your point is noted, but you can't say an armed response would have been ineffective just because some angsty teenager had a vest on and was therefore invulnerable to counterattack. You start shooting back at him, I can almost guarantee he would have stopped killing (other people) right then whether or not his torso had kevlar over it. An armed staff member might have saved 10-20 lives whether or not the panicky kid had a vest on, and whether or not the armed response immediately killed him or just scared the crap out of him and broke a few ribs and/or limbs. These kids are not trained soldiers.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

What makes me get angry and dig in my heels on guns is the dishonesty of the latest talking points Obama is handing down to his underlings. There was some idiot senator on NPR saying that because magazine capactiy is limited for deer hunting, but not on the street, that we have more protection for deer than we do for our kids. Think about how demented you have to be to even think this way. Obama and his senate enablers honestly are trying to say that conservatives want to kill as many kids as possible and that there is nothing currently preventing them from doing so. It's so mean spirited and blind on so many levels that it makes me angry. (These are the same people in many cases who are in favor of increasing abortions; it's called "projection" in psychology).

All I'll say for now is that Obama, while his kneejerk "orders" probably reflect that his heart is in the right place emotionally speaking, has absolutely no idea the danger of the game he's playing. Not only for himself, but the whole country is in extreme danger right now.

I believe there was a Michigan congressperson (or senator, not sure which) that was trying to convince people on America's Radio News this morning that the NRA is trying to scare you into keeping guns. They'll try anything.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Speaking of NPR and the "to each according to his need" principle, an interviewer actually had the blind stupidity to ask the NRA President why would anyone "need" an assault rifle. His respnse very polite, said only basically that it's not a good path to go down. Never asked the interviewer if he "needs" his pet ferret or his Birkenstocks. But this is where we're headed if we don't resist. Everything you own or might want to buy is up for grabs. SUVs and assault rifles will only be the beginning.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Give me a pistol and a rifle of similar vintages, and I can guarantee I'd do more damage with a rifle even if they're both semi-automatic.
In close quarters, like inside a building? Some situations a rifle would be more effective, in others a pistol would be.

Even with a vest, if you hit him in the vest, you're going to knock him down, break a rib or 2, and most likely he drops his rifle.

Bull, it depends on the situation.

When ferrets and Birkenstocks start being used to kill dozens of people at a time, then good riddance.

That doesn't even matter to these people as much as deciding for you what you "need" and "don't really need." I've never killed a single person with any of my guns, yet many people want to take them away. Are you suggesting that I'm a murderer simply because I own the means to kill? We'll also have to do away with rat poison, knives, hammers, hockey sticks, and antifreeze. Call Obama's hotline if you see your neighbor in possession of any of these items.
Someone could kill "dozens of people" by driving through a crowd. We'll also have to take away everyone's car, whether or not they are guilty of killing anyone themselves by vehicular homicide. Does anyone "really need" a car?

I have no ill intentions of killing anyone. Does that mean I should be allowed to have a nuclear warhead?

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

So you think it would be okay for me to have a nuclear warhead?
Sure. I'm also going to pick up the slack for Obama (who declined a petition signed by something like 30,000) and go ahead and build a death star. That would be cool. And a nuclear submarine.

Respectfully, I consider your question to be equivalent to asking if I think you should purchase Alaska and move it to the Florida Keys. I say go for it, dude. We trust you.
