Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Yes, but given the choice, I'm sure they'd trade a few extra hours on a bus or spending the money on a plane to play at a neutral site over potentially playing a road game.

They may, but i'm sure their fans would rather be in Fargo. I don't think the NC$$ cares about what the team wants and I think they get more MSU fans in Fargo than South Bend.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Speaking of regional changes, I know the bracket will change 1000 times before now and the end of the year, but using the current set-up, I could see switching MSU/RMU to South Bend and UMD/Merrimack to Fargo. It doesn't change bracket integrity all that much since the 2/3 match-ups are already mussed.

MSU would have to fly rather than UMD flying(technically MSU has bussed that trip before, but it's more than 500 miles), but at least the top overall seed gets a neutral site game rather than potentially being the road team to a lower-ranked team. Robert Morris also moves inside the 500-mile bus radius, so it's a net reduction of travel expenses.

It's 274 miles from Mankato to Fargo. If Mankato is the #1 overall team, they will go to Fargo UNLESS North Dakota is also a #1 seed.

Wouldn't Vermont and Michigan Tech be swapped?

I am outraged that the committee is forcing me to watch this hypothetical game on television.

They could be, but the NCAA really likes that serpentine structure, especially in the top half of the bracket. When there are switches, they are much more likely to move a 3 or 4 seed than a 2.

There's nothing written that says the top overall seed has to be in the closest regional. The idea behind it has to do with protecting the top overall team, and you're not really doing that if you're forcing them to play what the NCAA would consider a road game.

As far as distance/attendance--there are only the team allotments left to sell and Duluth is about the same distance from Fargo.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Harvard is 52.5 miles from the Verizon Wireless Center and 54.7 miles from the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
BU is 6.2 miles closer to the Dunkin' Donuts Center than to Verizon.
Like I said, it really doesn't matter to which regional they go.

Whatever ultimately gets decided, it will be whatever provides the greatest benefit to HE and the least benefit to the ECAC. :D

Adam Wooden says it. It has to be true. No matter where MSU goes it's going to be a road game.

UNO fan thanks all the teams that made is possible for UNO to start the day Friday at 10th in Pairwise and move us up to 5th,as I write this, despite our not even playing this weekend. It was, like, everything that had to happen to make moves up possible, did.

Well last week those teams were not so kind to the Pios dropping DU from 11 to 16 when we didn't play a game.

This is the best setup the NCAA could hope for with this field.

I am not sure I believe this ..... for the first round, yes. Thereafter, its about money.

That's what I meant.

4) There are no intraconference games allowed in the first round (like Harvard-Yale) UNLESS there are five or more teams from that conference in the tournament. Given the history, the NCAA tries to avoid all intraconference match ups if possible, regardless of how many teams from one conference there are.
