THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

Hockey people are fond of saying that the sign of a well-officiated game is that five minutes after the game ends, nobody remembers who the officials were. In the case of the 2015 Beanpot Championship game, that axiom certainly applies to three of the assigned officials.

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

well, how many other times were there a player streaking right into the slot and awaiting a pass where said player was hooked between the legs and one lifted preventing him from gettting wood on the puck? how many times was that play let go in the first three periods?

People will see what they want to see. Not just in hockey. Looks like no one is changing their opinion.

I had forgotten who they were until I saw the chatter on here. :D

Not those linesmen, never caught their names, but the first period had some of the most ridiculous icing calls I've ever seen, both ways.

I know Eichel is the best thing since sliced bread but it was way more nerve-wracking when Gaudreau was on the ice to be honest.

Yes...Andy Brickley even commented on it. Two minutes into the game, the BU player (can't remember who it was) released the puck about two inches before he "gained" the red line and they called icing. Brick said something to the effect of it looks like they're not going to give any leeway tonight.

I feel like this sentiment exists because we dealt with Gaudreau nightmares for 3 years. This was our first taste of Eichel. Though by Saturday night I may be saying something very different...

What's the deal with NU getting a double major to the bench at the end of the game? What happened?

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

Mad Dog living up to his nickname. Ripping the refs a new one over the Benning penalty

Thank you. Must have been interesting to see that one play out. Just wanted to comment that I'm a die hard UVM fan but I go out of my way to catch the Beanpot every year. I was pulling for NU but lightly. Overall I was happy to see a bunch of closely contested / high skill games. College hockey rocks! Though UVM will never be a part of it, love live the Beanpot and the attention it draws to college hockey.

One of these days he is going to have to purchase a ticket to watch his team play their next game.

To repeat a previous post, Madigan not only had had a right but, IMO, an obligation to stand up for his team in the wake of a total abomination of a penalty call that, in the words of the Boston Globe reporter, spoiled an otherwise epic Beanpot game. If the coach had been Jack Parker instead of Jim Madigan, there's no telling what might have happened but it wouldn't have been pretty.

so you are the one who still reads that?!?!?!!?

;)
I don't remember much of the play where the call occurred, only that the BU forward had gotten a step around the NU defender and it looked like there was some kind of stick contact. Whether it's a penalty, I don't know, I haven't seen a replay. I don't really buy the it's a call in OT but not regulation stuff, but you're 100% right that this type of play (from what I remember of it) was NOT established through the game as a call. Cameron Voss is a disgrace to officiating, he's absolutely terrible. Up there with Conrad Hache for the worst officials I've ever seen. Voss should've been nowhere near this game.

There is a story making the rounds that bu is considering awarding Cameron Voss an honorary B.S. degree from Metropolitan College. Who would believe such a vicious rumor - no matter how well deserved?

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

We all have our 'favorites'. The overall point being made is the quality of the officiating is just plain bad. Some nights I laugh more than I get angry as a call or two may go my team's way. Doesn't change the fact that these guys seem to intentionally or not be THE story far too often.

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

I would love to see the post-Beanpot update to that blog post when/if it comes out.
