I was watching live and instantly thought the whistle should have blown on the touch. Replay in this instance confirmed it for me. The refs blew that one IMO.

Agreed, I've seen complete unanimity from fans of all teams on this, besides JD's post.

I said it wasn't as obvious as people on here made it sound (shocker). I was listening to andy brickley and he never gave a definitive opinion. My opinion is it could have gone either way. Had they blown it dead i wouldn't have had a problem with it.

It was definitive that he had control, I don't know what Brickley was thinking. It was clear. The only explanation, from a friend who is a hockey official, is he didn't see Ahti get the puck, as he was raising his hand at the time. In this instance, one of the other three officials on the ice should have come over to him after the goal and told him BU possessed the puck and the goal should have, and could have, been reversed. While it is not reviewable, the other official, or a linesman, can come in and make that call based on what he saw.

puck came to ahti. he had nobody around to bother him, and he hit the puck. whistle should have been blown. heck, mookie has seen play stopped when the puck gets near the stick of the team getting a penalty.

horrible, horrible coverage by the ref crew there.

Right, he "hit" the puck. That is the correct way of putting it.

"Propelling the puck with the stick" is the NCAA definition of possession to end a delayed penalty, so I think we're all in agreement here that it definitely should've been blown dead.

No one loves a "we have the bestest fanzzzz!111!!" discussion like NU, which is funny considering they're usually near the bottom of attendance.

that's because we know we have the best student section in Hockey East. Maine is the only one, IMO, that comes close. Attendance is constantly down, sure, but that's looking at the whole arena. The bowl never fills up. But student turnout is incredibly strong. Watching the Beanpot, you can't tell me bc, bu, or HU student sections trump NU. That's where a lot of the discussion stems from, the student section.

We've got jobs may be a bit meh, but considering it's usually in response to "safety school" aka "that one extremely overused chant that happens in pretty much every game with opposing student sections," it's at least something out of the box and specific to us.

you might be louder but there is strength in numbers . We have 7 sections filled and NU had 3 1/2 filled so you be the judge

[was funny too when the bu kids replied 'flipping burgers' though :p ]

but that is 5.5 sections filled with dudes wearing whale pants and sitting on their hands :D

(except for profromdover who is walking around the concourse with a camera asking co-eds to take a picture with him :p )

Agree with this 100%. Trying to think of a first round in the last 10 years with two outstanding games like this, usually at least one is a blowout. Two great games. Hope next week matches it.
