The 2015-16 Schedules Thread

Re: The 2015-16 Schedules Thread

Brutal travel schedule, three games in three nights in the east, and finished by mid february except for the U 18 games..

The latter was the same problem which UAH faced before joining the WCHA. There is no one available to play when all the leagues are having their playoffs.

Wait, Southern NH is an actual school? I figured by how much they advertise on TV it was another online Phoenix or Devry.

Yep. They're a D-II school in the NE-10 playing down with a D-III schedule. If you're on the interstate in Manchester, NH, you can't miss it.

...or finishing up their league schedules. The only exception would be one AHA team having a "bye" each week.

Re: The 2015-16 Schedules Thread

Surprisingly enough, they actually have a full schedule in terms of NCAA limits. They also qualify for tournament consideration (not necessarily saying they'll make it, but the teams playing ASU may count these games).

With only 17 games against Div 1 teams?

There are 23: UAA, UA_, UConn, SHU, 2xWI, 2xLSSU, 2xCCT, 2xRPI, 2xUNO, 2xSCSU, 2xYU, 2xBSU, 2xUML, MC.

One game vs USA U-18 and Alberta are exempt. The rest are non-exempt exhibitions.

I'll update my spreadsheet later today; not able to from my current location.

Isn't it 24 the minimum?

Yep — once everyone goes all-in for the conference tournaments, it's generally all-full in-league (save, as FlagDUDE08 noted, Atlantic Hockey and their bye weeks). In those lonely independent years, or players stacked their classes for spring semesters because they knew that they'd have more time, seeing that they'd be done by Valentine's Day.

Actually, I forgot about the Alaska exemptions... ASU is actually two games short of a full schedule.

Yup, and they are a solid DII Basketball, Soccer and Baseball school. (National Champs in Soccer recently, I think)

Does Wisconsin still count as a Division I team? :D

Re: The 2015-16 Schedules Thread

Sort of interesting sidebar to the thread regarding a specific UNO game on it's schedule

The Saturday night home game UNO is playing against ASU in their new arena on 12-19-15 is coincidental with the Women's NCAA D-1 Volleyball National Championship match that is being played that night at UNO's now old home here in Omaha, the CenturyLink Center.

Lest that make anyone scratch their head, the CenturyLink Center here in Omaha holds every meaningful NCAA volleyball attendance record there is, including the top 3 NCAA tournament attendance single match records in NCAA women's volleyball history. The highest attendance to ever watch any volleyball match in the United States occurred when 17,340 attended the 2008 NCAA National Semifinal match between Penn State and Nebraska. The second highest attendance in NCAA tournament history occurred when 17,209 fans watched Nebraska defeat Stanford for the 2006 NCAA championship. And, at the 2008 NCAA National Championship, 14,299 people watched Penn State defeat Stanford, the third highest attendance in NCAA tournament history, and, this was just two days after the CenturyLink Center broke the attendance record for the semifinals.

There are a ton of volleyball fans here. It is huge at all 3 local schools and at all local high schools. Creighton, Nebraska, and UNO. It will be interesting to see how or if loyalties get divided up the night of that UNO game against ASU and if there are some empty seats for that game that is otherwise almost certainly going to be a sell-out, since it is becoming very clear that UNO is going to sell out every game next season.

So I'll add volleyball to the list of things Omahans like better than hockey (joins Husker football, basketball and wrestling :D)

Re: The 2015-16 Schedules Thread

There's never a requirement that you play a full schedule. All I'm saying is that they can play two more if they want to.

Yes, but I don't believe that you have to claim the exemptions if you can't use them. Of course, they stand as much chance of being tournament-eligible as UAH did in 12-13. ;)
