Agreed!
And East should be with 48 of the 59 schools
The West has a tough row to hoe with only 11 schools in the pool
North Dakota, CC, Denver, Alaska-Anchorage, Alaska, St. Cloud State, Air Force, Bemidji, Mankato, Omaha... who am I missing?

Must be the yellow rodents.
That is if you count their St Paul campus.
If not just change the numbers to 49 and 10.

Nope. Most of the University of Minnesota's Twin Cities campus is on the east side of the Mississippi, including Mariucci Arena. You could count them as east AND west, but then you'd have to do the same for St. Cloud State. So, it's either 49/10 or 50/11, but it's definitely not 48/11.

EDIT: FYI, the Minneapolis campus is primarily on the east bank as well.

Technically, wouldn't the Sanford Center in Bemidji would be considered south of the Mississippi River?

If you want to get that technical, it's actually northeast, east, southeast, south, southwest, west, and northwest of the Mississippi. :)

This is the internet. So change the numbers if you don't like them.
East/West/North/South
Doesn't matter and who cares?
It's all college hockey.

Wow.... MN and SCSU being considered "Eastern" schools. That takes some effort :D

Thanks! I took the Mississippi suggestion to its fullest extent.

If you asked me to pick a dividing line, I've had gone with the Mississippi/Ohio River transitioning to the OH/PA border transitioning to Lake Erie/St. Lawrence seaway... but nobody asked me. :(

Cut that out.... you're making me agree with a SCSU fan ;)

Why not the Hudson River? Then I could ignore Union. :D

The whole thing is an embarrassment. We all are ardent (read tiger Dads) supporters for our teams and conferences.
What we should look for is the best teams make the tournament.
Anything less is selfish.

Re: The 2014 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread`

Nice to see the conversation has devolved to the "mine is bigger than yours" stage.

Re: The 2014 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread`

My apologies. It was my comment about the eastern power that led to all this.

All I meant to say was that there are more eastern teams rated higher in the PWR than there have been ever in the last 10 years, since i have been watching it, and I find that interesting.

Sorry, but you get the entire state of New York.

However, I have to amend my recently proposed line to account for exhibition teams from Canada. The East gets Quebec and everything to the east. The West gets Ontario (yes, including Ottawa).
