The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

So who won? Didn't hear them read the results on the radio this morning

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

The only certainty is Harvard will win. They DOMINATE consolation games.

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Before prediction, will NU be able to have 6 skaters plus the goalie on the ice at all times tonight like last year?

Aha good memory. That might be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. Imagine if he scored on that breakaway, God only knows in what possible way the Hockey East refs could have screwed up a review of something like that.

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

True!

Unless you look at the numbers...

Wins/Total games
BU: .296
Harvard: .318

Goals/Game
BU: 2.407
Harvard: 2.409

Goals Against/Game
BU: 3.33
Harvard: 2.82

PK
BU: 81.9%
Harvard: 87%

Head to Head (This year)
BU: 0-1-0
Harvard: 1-0-0

Consolation game Head to Head
BU: 1-3-0
Harvard: 3-1-0

Interestingly the score in those 4 games was either 5-4 or 7-4 (with the two 7-4 games going to Harvard).

A similar thing happened this year with NU @ ND. NU was on the PP and ND killed part of the penalty with 6 skaters.

They did it twice! and the four blind mice never caught it.

Obviously you had the one where Roy mysteriously jumped over the boards and got the breakaway. There was also another time while BC was killing a penalty a 6th player hopped on.

I remember Brickley losing his mind.

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

to second what andy powers said friday night, the beanpot desperately needs nu to win this thing. that being said, how about next year? ;)

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Mike Szmatula will be the X-factor for NU. Guessing the best Eagle tonight will be Kevin Hayes.

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

NU lost Gaudreau and Gillies - both obviously key recruiting losses, but also picked up Kevin Roy. Interesting to note that four different players occupy statistical leaders for NU.
