The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

It won't happen this year. But if BU and BC were to ever meet in the consolation final, would it still be a big game?

yes.. just for the fact that the Huskies haven't won in so long. Would also make great media story.

It would also help in that scenario that we beat a really good HU team.. :-)

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Despite their record, Harvard is not that bad. The coach needs to find a way for them to start well and finish well, another words 60 minutes of hockey is in order. They cannot allow NU to a fast start before starting to play. I just don't get Donato and why he cannot get that so called talent to play as a team for 60 minutes. Get the lead first and get the team to play team hockey. NU should win this game on paper but the Crimson does have some talent and potential to upset the Huskies.

Harvard is very talented.

Perhaps our 1 saving grace.. they're going to have to shoot exceptional.. to get the puck past Witt. NU offense on the other hand, had better step up.. Roy, Szmatula, Pimm, et al.. or its another evening at the 'Pot for us.

I think its HU who is going to come out blazing.. NU needs to stay composed; disciplined; and wear them down..... hopefully.

The other saving grace is you don't have Donato behind your bench to screw things up. Do you think honestly he is a decent coach or good HC ? I'm sure some of the Crimson fans are begging you to take their coach and willing to throw in a bag of pucks )

oh I've commented on the Harvard thread itself.. Donato is way in over his head.. & (way) past his welcome in Cambridge.

Now just watch.. HU will beat NU.. and he'll buy himself another Beanpot or two. For the longest time I thought Sneddon was coming in.. then that too fizzled. The people over there.. hockey.. I'm not sure its on their radar as much.. much like the admin at NU..

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Can anyone fill me in on how they pick who plays the 5pm and who gets the 8pm in week 1? Are there set criteria or is it just driven by what the power-that-be want?

This has been discussed on here before... An I think we determined that it is a decision by the powers that be based on which matchup will have better ratings.

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Every year the time comes to buy the tickets and every year my wife and I decide to go. All I want out of Harvard is a good effort. I don't expect them to beat Northeastern, but at least show up for the game. Too many times in the past they have seemed to go through the motions. Frustrating, especially because they usually play in the early game, and the chance to compete for the trophy goes out the window in the first couple of periods which leads to a couple of long nights. Especially since the games are on NESN I usually wonder why I've bothered. If they can't be motivated enough to put in a good effore why should I shell out the money and time to support them?

That's right, for the most part it's NESNs call from what I understand. And I believe we concluded that the home teams are determined by a coin flip well in advance of the games.

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Bu-bc have played on the first Monday 21 times counting 2014
They have played first THREE times
1963/1987/1990

Counting Mondays games HU-nu have played 21 times...all these games are in the first round :p

Doesn't take a ****ing genius to see why nu plays 5p games

*when bu played in 2010 they played the first game first round... And beat nu-- what a surprise!!!

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

I thought you didn't care.. :)
Anyway, I don't care either if we play 6am gms.. one of these yrs NU.. get this monkey off your back!
:)

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

No, they played in the late game. It was a real good game too. BC killed Harvard in the 5pm game 6-0.

As a side note, how was that 09-10 BU team a .500 team? They had 6 players who have had NHL time (Shattenkirk, Bonino, Chiasson, Gryba, C. Cohen, Warsofsky)
