The 2013 Tournament Speculation Thread

I believe they would have to fly everywhere other than SNC and Oswego. Although it doesn't make a lot of sense that they would bus to Oswego but would have to fly to Utica (more like fly to Syracuse and bus to Utica)

Yeah, 545 miles to Eau Claire. I need a geography lesson.

I know Carey Price got shelled yesterday against the Pens but would he be any worse than Budaj in net? Anyway, speculation on the D3 tourney radio show is that Adrian is going east to play Oswego meaning 3 east teams in the final four. The other website (D3 hockey) has a prediction saying with 85% certainty 2 west quarterfinal games

Re: The 2013 Tournament Speculation Thread

I'll be very surprised if we don't see 2 play-in games out west. It keeps expenses down with flying on 1 out to LP and it means they don't truly have to decide who is #1 in the West between SNC and UWEC because the pairings of the 4 teams would be locked in with the 500 mile rule.

Re: The 2013 Tournament Speculation Thread

Actually, let me say my biggest surprise would be if the 4 western teams played in the Quarterfinals. Sending Adrian East like has been done before to essentially create the 8-3 with a single play-in for the West is probably the most likely. It's just unfortunate they'll need to make SNC or UWEC play St. Johns Wednesday because both are legitimately among the top 4 or 5 teams nationally. It's too bad expenses eliminate proper national seeding.

Re: The 2013 Tournament Speculation Thread

I'm willing to bet that Oswego will travel to Adrian for a play in game. This will guarantee a 3-1 East split for the final four.

I can see that as a quarterfinal, but not as a play-in. The question is where the winner could go. No problem if OSW wins, $$$ if Adrian wins.

I fear you are right.

Re: The 2013 Tournament Speculation Thread

I would be shocked if it is two Western play-in games. That would be the only way the NCAA could completely cluster this up. Strength of resume clearly favors any solution but this. I guess the Adrian / Oswego matchup with SJU at UWEC or SNC in a play-in is possible... But I still believe two western quarters is most likely.

And I hope you are right!
