Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Mayor Walsh tells CNN that the parade tomorrow is being reconsidered. Hope they do it Wednesday. I might be able to make it down...

ETA: Confirmed. Wednesday at 11AM.

I understand mookie is a troll, but since when do facts not matter to you?

The footballs were measured at halftime. It turns out only one was 2 PSI under, the others were "just a few ticks" under. The one ball that measured 2 PSI low? The one the Colts had possession of. And when Jackson caught it, he said it felt fine. He gave it to the equipment manager for safekeeping (first postseason interception) and only after the Colts had the ball did it come up deflated. Not that the Colts would ever cheat....

He's always been mean and dishonest... It just hasn't been targeted at you.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Yes it makes no sense to have it tomorrow but Wednesday. You need time to clean the streets and sidewalks.

How slim is the Brady's and BB's legacy ? Butler's pick saved them between good and one of the greats along side Montana and Bradshaw. Another SB win is possible but you can see how the defense is so suspect without a great pass rush. The Green Bay game and Baltimore game and yesterday's are examples where these game allow you to see how vulnerable they are to giving up the big plays and the other team scoring on 2 minute offense on the Pats. Scoring a TD with only about 31 seconds on the clock was something that should not happen.

I don't know if they can address that through the draft or FA signings.

Seattle is already favored for next year to win the SB. I would like to enjoy this one first )

So glad Butler got to do the "I'm going to Disney World!" thing. He and Edelman were there today. How crazy must it be for him now?? Watching Brady's press conference this morning when the guy from Chevy presented him with the MVP, I was kinda hoping he would say "I'm giving Butler the truck."

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

If there was any justice, Butler should have been MVP. Yeah, Brady had a good game, threw a lot of td's, broke completion records, but if Butler hadn't intercepted that pass, Brady still would have been the losing quarterback.

And I was re-watching some of the postgame on my dvr while getting to The Black List, and there was one shot, they cut to a Pats player, and I swear he said, "that truck is mine". Don't think it was Butler though, not sure who it was.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I can't think of a better super bowl or at least one in my lifetime. Russell wilson has ice water in his veins and if anyone can catch brady....

It was a great SB, for sure. The TEN-StL Rams one still stands out for me. Tackled at the 1, ball outstretched to the 1/2 yard line? Seals the victory for StL? That was amazing.

Watch the replays of the key plays in 2nd half and count how many times Butler is in them. Its all of them. The not called pass interference when he trips and then the receiver trips. The almost catch on the sideline, perfect throw from Wilson, Butler has his arm in there and pulls the receivers arm down. The miraculous reception and finally the INT

Scott Norwood thanks both of you.

One irony of course is that probably the reason he was involved in so many plays was the same reason that Tharold Simon was involved in so many plays -- he was perceived as the weak link in the secondary and the other players were "doing their job". Of the plays you mention, one (the non-INT) was a clear negative play on which he was very lucky; one (the miracle catch) was a positive play on which he was very unlucky.

And of course another irony is that if Caroll/Bevell had made a sensible call (a run or a less risky pass) Butler would be an interesting footnote.

I don't get involved in MVP discussions but I will say this. It's really cool that an unknown from an Alabama school (not the ones in Tuscaloosa or Auburn) comes through, and as I said in another post Brady's performance in the fourth quarter was as good as it gets. Not one magical drive, but two. One drive with two clutch third downs that ol' cement foot extended by pocket awareness, line-of-scrimmage awareness, and footwork, and one drive that was executed flawlessly so that they never got to third down at all. In fact you could argue that the second drive was executed too well; if they had gone to third or fourth down, then there would have been no time left for Seattle.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

ok, ok, even I will admit it was pretty classy of Tom Brady to give Butler the truck. real feel good story.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

****show commute with this ill timed parade

I thought you were logging in to your desktop from the comfort of your home?

Left my place at 7:12. I live 5 miles from my office and 1 block from the parade route. It took me close to two hours to get in the office.
