The 2013 New England Patriots

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I dunno. he took an 0-2 team that was going nowhere under Drew Bledsoe to a Super Bowl win. That team didn't suddenly all of a sudden become a good team. That team goes maybe .500 again with Bledsoe at QB.
I don't know what they would have done under Bledsoe, but that was a very good team IMO. That defense punished opponents. When the Pats lost to the Rams at home in November, they sent 4 or 5 Rams off the field injured. Rams receivers heard footsteps all day long in the Super Bowl, although they found their courage in the 4th qtr. to make a game of it.

FWIW, I think this team has a lot of promise. The D looks good, but twice as bad as they are good at times. The O... you don't run rough shod over teams like they did Sunday without some decent players. They have to bring the type of aggressiveness they brought Sunday every game to keep winning. This team doesn't have the talent to slack off and still win.

I like what I saw Sunday... they came together. Hopefully it sticks.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I'll bet there are many who have better QB ratings and completion %s. Take a look at Bradys numbers the last 5 years. See the trend
Brady's won his first SB with a 86.5 rating, second SB with 85.9 and third SB with 92.6.
He's at 85.5 right now on a young team that has looked pretty bad in 2-1/2 losses and the Raiders win (first half Miami looked good).
Career average = 95.5
He's the 23rd rated QB to date and still a keeper in my book.

P.S. check out Brady's post season ratings.... his ratings are better the past 2 seasons than they were in his first two SuperBowl wins. Post Season Ratings

This is kind of fun... never paid attention to ratings before. Check out Rivers... career ratings through the roof. What's he ever won? Ratings don't mean squat. Winning does. ;)

golly! rivers and gla have 'won' the same amount in the last decade too :p

that rating would be "0"

If you can't see the decline, better open your eyes

Oh, I see it. I see a decline in the players around him as well, at O line pass protection and at WR.
When those supporting casts improve their game, I think you'll see Brady's performance improve as well.

Hey mook... you have a point. But if not for a defensive collapse against the Giants and a pass that hits Welker in a very bad spot (the hands) Brady might have 2 more Super Bowls under his belt. Brady did his job, but it's all his fault.

Brady, Brady, Brady... you suck. At life. At quarterbacking. It's all your fault! It's all your fault! It's all your fault! :)

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Brady was never the type of QB to win the game single handedly for you because he can't throw deep with too much accuracy. His skill was managing the game and finding the open receiver 5-15 yards down the field. Nothing wrong with that mind you but that's what he does. He doesn't have Montana's ability to throw on the run or hit his 5th option after scanning the field for two seconds, nor Elway's scrambling ability and deep ball accuracy.
This.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Regardless of any perceived decline..... Patsies go 7-9 and they win the division.

So until they lose their 10th game all y'all are sitting pretty ;)

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I don't understand the play calling by McDaniels in a lot of the games and in certain situations.

It just sucks generally and I would like to see more no huddle when things are not working on offense.

Anyone want to comment on McDaniels play calling ?

Examples? Don't necessarily disagree, but remember he's working against a good defensive line with a suspect offensive line and a QB who's so immobile that he makes Drew Bledsoe look like Russell Wilson.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

The start of the 4th, that was a classic clock eating drive

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

If Pats had a QB they might have put up 60.
Who're are those chuckle heads on TV praising Brady. Fire the ********... they don't know squat about football. ;)

Just bustin' nuts folks. But I didn't see any skill erosion today. Vintage Brady.
Like I've said... if the Bills were hanging all over his arm today, he would have sucked. Anyone would.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I like that Buffalo actually hung around for a while before Tom threw the KO punches that I knew were coming. I never bet against Brady... ever.
