The 2013 New England Patriots

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I am specifically talking about what happened today. Absurd to determine the outcome of a game on that call. And I question the sanity of people who think it's ok to make a call like that.

Couldn't give two bleeps about whether it's a rule or not. Use some god **** common sense. No ref should ever throw a flag based on what happened. Simply idiotic to say it was a good decision to call that.

I'm sure you said the same thing after the tuck rule play.

And not making the call affects the game too. The Patriots tried to cheat, and got caught. Simple as that.

You can't make calls against the Patriots when the game is on the line. You can only makes calls for them. It's in the rulebook somewhere. Or the commandments. Can't remember which.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

If it happened the other way I would have said the jets got screwed. I just don't want refs making calls like that. Some of you apparently do (or more accurately, are only defending it because it went against a team you all hate).

I don't hate the Pats. :p

I actually don't care about the Pats one way or the other.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Back to our regularly scheduled non mid-westerner mandated program :p

Without that mind-boggling half-assed inane game-deciding penalty, the Patriots win the game by a FG with that field position. It's a freebie to the Foot-fetish Coach.

Worst O-line I have ever seen in a Pats team, in the 3rd. Always getting Brady sacked and in a 2nd or 3rd and 17 at the 5 or so yard line, resulting in a punt. The O-line lost the lead and let this go into overtime. They aren't going to last long with that O-line.

The injuries aren't an excuse any more. They've legitimately run out of NFL caliber players at key positions. Gulp.

And congratulations to Brent for being the first Bills fan to type that sentence about not hating the Pats. Next, I'll reveal that I don't dislike the Yankees... ;)

Going back through my fandom over the years, I hate Miami more than NE overall I suppose. The only team I truly hate is the Packers. :)

That's not true...I hate the Jets too.

If it makes you feel better, I think it's a stupid rule. But, it's still a rule, and it was still broken. As far as the "holding can be called every play" crowd...that's probably true, but do you complain when a holding call brings back a pivotal TD because "it's not always called"? No, you don't, because the guy still held.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Offensive players routinely help runners/receivers by pushing them forward to try and gain extra yardage. That is illegal by rule yet never called. There's a reason it's never called. But I suppose you think that should be called too, right? I mean, if you want to be consistent...

Stupid rules don't always need to be enforced and especially not when a game is on the line. Use common sense, don't be a robot.

Actually, I think it should be enforced.
