The 2012 Presidential Election Part I - The guns of August

Re: The 2012 Presidential Election Part I - The guns of August

There were some who said that Katrina was punishment for "The Big Easy". One wonders how they're interpreting Isaac. Shouldn't have picked that Mormon?;)

Re: The 2012 Presidential Election Part I - The guns of August

Even more amusing is the lengths the media will go to in order to keep the "its a tie race" mantra going for as long as possible.
People don't turn into a game that's 24-10 in the fourth quarter.

The more sophisticated poll aggregators have the odds at about:

Obama wins: 70%
Dems hold the Senate: 60%
Republicans hold the House: 90%

None of them has changed significantly since May.

Re: The 2012 Presidential Election Part I - The guns of August

Even better are polls that have an Obama 9 point advantage in registered voters, but a 2 point advantage in "likely" voters. Gimme a break. I can easily see a registered voter vs likely voter gap because older, retired, whiter voters tend to be more reliable. But a 7 point difference?
Who knows what will happen with voter suppression?

But the traditional difference is about 2 points between RV and LV.

And who knows which polls over-sample certain types of voters? Well, some people do.

When we're discussing women in the workplace and attempting to have careers, that's basically what it's viewed as.

Correct. Has been that way for years. Needs to change. Society used to be run on one family income. Whoever decided to change that has caused most of the women's issues of the day.

You've been putting so much irony on your sarcasm, or whatever, that I can't tell what you really mean any more. But if you're a baby killer, viewing pregnancy as a horrible disease should be considered right and proper. Right? It would be the other side who would think it needs to change to a healthy respect for the lives of young people.

Pregnancy is only viewed as a disease by employers. They use the condition to pay women less for the same work and to stifle their careers. Many of those same people created the new "two income society" that we have nowadays.

I don't view it as a disease at all personally.

I miss Priceless.

Priceless is still here. He's posting under another name.

It's less of a disease, and more of a coma. With a birthing, the mother (and in some cases now, the father as well) is completely out of action for two months. Granted, today's technology makes it possible for a person to telecommute, but when you lose that productivity, how are you going to pick up the slack? It's just like when you have a small platoon and someone in that group gets shot. One thing that does contribute to that are laws regarding leave of absence, where employers are forced by law to be down a person for up to 12 weeks while they hold the spot, and in the cases of CA WA and NJ, are forced to pay for the leave. The company needs to cover the loss, so once again, libtard labour laws are screwing over the people they are trying to protect.

I definitely think Mittens should run on a campaign to repeal the Family and Medical Leave Act. That ought to fix up his gender gap problem in a jiffy!

Yeah, those ****ing libtards passed that law.

I still won't be voting for him. ;)

Wah freaking wah. Employers pay workers who prioritize family over work less than they pay workers who prioritize work over families, regardless of gender. Both my brother and my brother-in-law made choices to prioritize their kids over work, and their career paths/compensation have reflected it. I just don't see a problem with a company rewarding its more productive workers over its less productive workers.

No, no problem with that at all. Society certainly benefits.

It's a heck of a lot better than making the only determining factor of your ability to keep a job to be the amount of time spent in the job, rather than the quality of work performed. Companies have lost terrific minds due to the tactics of a closed collective bargaining agreement (union for you libtards).
